2004-06-15 - 12:09 p.m. slicing life thick walk in the door, change clothes, change CD (burning), make water, drink water, download mail, and well, a few minutes in the bathroom after work to catch my breath and jot these mundane tasks down here just to have a record of what my first few minutes home from work are like most mornings these days... and I am realizing that I am passing more gas than usual lately, which is information I am sure you were all not needing to know over your morning coffee, but I am noticing (hopefully I've been descreet enough so that no one else is, huh?) and attribute it to a combination of changing dietary habits (more cereal grains, oats, soy, and rice and more meats, less pasta, a daily glass of juice, often prune, and lots of water) and the increase in overall activity (even though I am not exercising daily, I am definitely waking the body and remembering what an important role the digestive system plays in this physical life)... these are some of the things I ponder while sitting on the porcelean throne... yes, time for the gym... and returning from the gym, wisdom might put me to bed, but I have mail downloading on the desktop and it's going to be a while... more than 7,000 emails and three of the accounts were bouncing because they reached their 10MB limit (10.6, 10.4, and 10.4MB respectively)... the three other accounts on the desktop didn't bounce, but were getting there... those addresses are almost useless these days... they are addresses that have been out here on the web for too many years and the spiders and spambots and everybody and their sister's cousin's plumber's friends seem to send mail to those addresses... that is the trouble with being online too long, having extended websites with addresses on each page (without spam-proofing them... my ignorance did not lead to bliss), and signing up for too many websites and mailing lists and email groups and so on and so forth and scooby dooby doodle doo dah day... I must remember to download mail on that computer more than once a week... but even then, I don't have time to sort through it all, no less read anything on that computer so mail to those addresses are mostly deleted before opening and about 20% are stored for someday (someday being when I might have time, which might be tomorrow but more likely will be later than that, perhaps even many many years or not in this lifetime)... after all, I have mail on this laptop I haven't gotten to and the addresses coming to this laptop are at least mostly read (especially if I put an email address in my address book cuz then it's filtered into priority folders, which means I'll get to them first when I get back to email... I've been away from email for a week or few)... anyway, in the hours it took for the mail to download, the fantasy baseball teams were reviewed and the news is as bad as ever there, but I made some moves and hope for the best... the second season teams start next week and hopefully results will be better there as I did my best to draft good second half players... c'est la baseball... and I then realized the hunger in the body was letting itself be known loud and clear through the muscles and I cooked some tuna-steak and pasta and cheese and then munched on a few bowls of cereal and then some M&Ms and later when Rasputin got home some pizza (Donato's what else?) and all the while copying more CDs and whatever happened to sleep?... I finally fell asleep as the sun was falling from the sky and nearing the horizon, but woke a few hours later to watch the second half of the fifth game of the NBA finals and the Hall of Famers demonstrated they were anything but a team as they fell apart, again, and were completely humiliated by a team that understood that basketball is a team sport... now Kobe can go to court and deal with his extra-curricular sex life and the coach can shop around for a team that might want to be a team and Shaq can blame it on the egos that would not give him the ball enough (and there is some truth to that) and Malone can ponder retirement even as his hunger for a title begs him to try one more time next year (pity he was the only team player among the all-stars) and Payton can grumble about how Kobe wouldn't let him take charge, pointing at the first twenty-one games when he was running the team from the point guard position and they won eighteen of twenty-one and then he says that Kobe demanded control and gone was the team... I wonder, how can a player actually be considered a Hall of Famer when ignores any defensive skills he might have so well that we doubt he has any defensive skills at all?... I wonder, did they ever have any sort of defense?... oh well, Larry brown deserved the championship and I had Ben Wallace on every one of my fantasy basketball teams and Rasheed Wallace and Richard Hamilton were on other teams so I cheer my fantasy players even after the games are long done... and maybe now the best player in the game might get motivated to play up to his full potential, mature into the player he can be, and demand his teammates play as a team around him... or maybe the dynasty is over for now... as usual, defense wins... and finally I went back to work...
