2005-07-17 - 2:36 p.m. and now we wait... I refer to Harry Potter fans... and I mean now we wait for the conclusion (but it can't really end, can it?)... a year or two from now... long time?... and until then, the debates can rage... Precious and I just spent an hour or so discussing the things that we liked and didn't like, the things that made sense and that which was incongruous to us, and the possibilities for the seventh book... feel free to call and give your opinions... and one of you have amazing timing as you called just as I was writing this entry, which was a wonderful surprise adding yet another exclamation point and smile to the story of my day... thank you... I am not exactly sure why I love the Potter stories... I am not all that enamoured with the author's style, though I am not driven away by it either... I find faults in the details, but then, I often do when I take a story seriously because I step into the story and walk around in the world and feel the logic or illogic of the premises and actions and emotions of the story and characters... and I especially enjoy science fiction and fantasy because it takes off the norms and sets the imagination free to fly wherever in worlds where anything is possible (I prefer stories with logic and even plausable scientific hypotheses to back up the events, but I can get loves in fantasy as well)... the part of me who misses the comradery of school years definitely loves the series, for life never so much revolves around social life and friendships as it does in school years... of all things I miss in this life, I miss those bonds, the trust, the innocence, the intensity... ultimately, I think we never actually stop growing up, not if we're honest and keep an open mind (but I wonder who does that anymore, really?... except maybe on a subconscious level which is one reason teenagers dominate the pop culture these days... and when cynicism rises I say, don't let me get me)... but then, what do I know... there's still so much more to learn and share... and the titilations of first loves still excite my heart like little else can (as anyone reading my other diaries might already know... I imagine falling in love several times a day, at least, and when I imagine, I feel the energy and emotions rushing through me physically... it keeps me alive and hopeful... when I have time to remember who I am... I think everyone should)... maybe it's the character development that draws me in (perhaps the author's greatest strength)... I enjoy some of the characters enough to want to know more, to want a hundred episodes played out in this story... I relate to many of the characters well, though none completely... maybe it's more personal, the orphan status of the characters and how no grown ups take the kids, especially Harry, seriously even he is making sense, even when they ask him to take on adult responsibilities (the story of my life... and I still feel like I'm tilting at windmills too much in this life sometimes... yeah, I relate to chicken little too)... anyway, it was fun... . . . . this might be considered a spoiler even as vague and generalized as it is, so skip the rest of this entry if you are like me and don't even want to speculate about a story before reading or seeing it... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . yes, debates can rage for hours over whether this should have happened or that should have happened and who's the real bad guy and who's the real good guy and who's really the greatest wizard of all time and who's just another gullible old fool betrayed by those trusted most in spite of lots of evidence and serious advice to the contrary and, well, it's just a story... ok, that should not be any sort of real spoiler... I mean, I didn't tell you if anybody was killed or if anybody fell in love or if anybody did this or that or any profoundly affective information like Hermione dies, right?... just kidding... maybe... you'll just have to read the book to know the story... and if you're not into the Potter stories, well, I hope you are into something enough to wait around for a few hours to get to see it on opening night... it gives life much more flavor... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . boo!
