2005-09-19 - 7:25 p.m. sleepy at work actually, this entry was the first of last night's work entries but somehow, in my stupor this morning, the previous entry was uploaded and we are now here all dazed and confused... but that might not even matter, so if it doesn't then nevermind... eeep... sleepy, but at work two people called in tonight out of the four who were supposed to be working so weve got an overtime staff for a few hours and then hopefully there are two day staff coming in early we shall see how it goes I dont have much to say about work tonight its the same old same old here and once I describe it (and I believe I have well enough), theres not much to be said track back a week or so for an entry or few relating to what I do for work if youre curious and just got here or missed those entries lately Ive been uploading more than one entry a day and with this one entry per page format that means even if you check in here every day you would still have to check older entries to not miss the babbling some days, like yesterday, three entries pop out and some days more its not as if youre missing vital Earth shaking information, unless of course I rock your world with every word, in which case you might want to have your head examined by a reputable professional or better yet, tell me that self-effacing deflection is silly and I deserve your adoration, I mean, if you really wanna I have not rocked anyones world in the physical world in some time now and I can say the same for anyone rocking mine, which is sad, because I love rocking both ways (its kinda hard to rock one way, actually, it usually ends in falling and falling is seldom fun unless someone is there to fall with you, but then, I may be digressing and quite possible painting myself into a corner called double entendre huh?) anyway, if I happen to rock your world, happy to do so (now if I only know what I was doing to do it) and as for me and my world, there is an opening for someone to rock my world so if you feel you are a potential world rocker, please call and tell me why today is Rasputins birthday I think hes a hundred a seventy three yes, a youngster I keep telling him, yeah, you think you ache now, well just wait until you turn two hundred he seldom responds as hes general asleep or staring at the TV, either way, oblivious to whatever is going on around him though hes a little more alert when hes asleep I kid Raspy, but then, who else is around to kid the kid, of course, Precious, but its not her birthday, after all Rasputin is going to the best steak house in town for his birthday with an on-again off-again concubine who does not like anyone else around when shes around, so Precious and I will be fending for ourselves but since I slept maybe two hours all weekend, Precious may be fending for herself as I sleep well do something for Raspys birthday next weekend because this weekend would have been too obvious and besides, he did make other plans that excluded us sok, we all need to get a little now and then I personally like a lot though I have to be in the mood for steak (I am not a big fan of meat)... so let's see what happened over the weekend... the schedule for the weekend changed and a couple of activities were dropped, but the card party happened Saturday evening and then the zoo happened Sunday... on Saturday, the cards were horrible for me all night, giving me only three winning hands in total... we play for chips, but the person with the most chips at the end takes a pool made of $5 a person... no high stakes games for beginners, after all... what throws a curve into it is that the winner for each night appears to be the winner of the last pot as the tendency for everyone to go all in on the last pot continues... I suppose it can be said that it is the only chance the person has of winning if she or he is not in the lead going into the last pot... but it does deflate a night of careful and strategic card playing to gradually take the lead in winnings just to be overtaken because you did not have a winning hand on the last pot of the night... that was not my issue this week, at all... I had to throw all in halfway through the night and lucked out to have the winning hand that pot (my second win of the night) just to stay in the game... last week I was leading going into the last pot and was not lucky enough to take that last pot, so I lost the pool... I figure I'm just paying five bucks each time we play and then just play to have fun (cuz that's how I play games anyway... winning or losing is the end of the game, the fun for me is the playing of the game... I'm just strange that way)... when I got home I was still awake and I re-read a little news of the world and found myself ranting again (as you may have noticed a few entries back)... I think I need to find a copy of Jackson Browne's Lives In The Balance and sing along again... anyway, I finally checked email and found a bunch that was not junk (thank you thank you thank you), which was surprising since most of my mail is junk most days... you should have seen my smile... so I got all excited and was still awake in the morning... then I realized the Zoo was planned... so after uploading the last three entries (before the last one, which was actually last night's second entry at work but somehow, well, yeah, confused and all) I headed out to pick up my zoo partner for the day, the lovely and delightful augustdreams (who should be visited by you and left happy notes because she so deserves them and she has Halloween stuff and she's adorable), which meant road trip (she's about a half hour south of casa de candoor and the zoo is about a half hour north at a steady 75-80mph)... eventually we got to there and we wandered around the animal world called the Central Florida Zoological Park... a decent zoo, though small (now that I think of it, tiny by Bronx Zoo standards, which will always be my rule of thumb for zoos since I spent so much time there as a littler person... and then the San Diego Zoo has always been one of the definitions of a what a zoo is for me) and no big cats or lions or such, which is ok cuz I cringe when I see too many animals in cages... most of the animals were wisely sleeping as the temperatures rose above ninety... we were concerned about the apparent lack of available water for most of the animals, but there was nobody around to ask about anything while we were there... the animal areas were clean, however, so there must be staff routinely doing their jobs around the park... maybe they are invisible... there were signs up asking for volunteers to help clear areas and set up new exhibits... thinking about it now, it was very small... basically a limited Ark set up, that is, two animals to a cage, no group socialization... one of the monkey couples had a young monkey with them, but otherwise the place was sparse and a little sad (but then again, maybe that's just the fact that they were all sleeping and at this moment, I would like to be sleeping too... that's an oddly amusing thought, but then, maybe you have to be in my brain to get it... I picture myself sprawled on a tree limb zonked out and happy as a monkey in a tree)... we didn't get to see it all as the heat was getting brutal (pant pant), but we did get to see most of it and I really wish I was more impressed... maybe I was expecting a new zoo review or something... it was still much fun... I've always wanted more of Central Florida than I've found here though... the company, on the other hand, was great, splendorific, in fact, so the day was much fun... after the zoo we drove part of the way around Lake Monroe until we came to a place to eat right on the water and stopped in to cool off and have lunch and watch the water and boats and waves... unfortunately for you, dear reader, between my semi-zombie state (energy level?... what energy level?) and the heat and quiet zoo and sleepy Sunday afternoon atmosphere found in Sanford, Florida, there isn't much of a story to write about... relaxing, fun, good company, all in all a fine Sunday... just not a very exciting story to read (you had to be there)... but then, this is life in black and white and contrary to babbling appearances, there isn't always bouncing off the walls excitement behind the candoor... sometimes there's just two of us sharing a wonderfully lazy peaceful fun Sunday afternoon... arriving home that evening I collapsed in the big green chair and woke about two hours later because the phone was telling me it was time to get ready for work (huh?... well, I told you I got two hours sleep this weekend, right?)... and here we are... sleepiness subdues the enthusiasm I feel for the fun weekend, that's for sure... it was lots more fun than it sounds... fun enough to be hungover from sleep deprivation tomorrow (which would actually be today by virtue of the uploading time)... I am (at work) writing through a thick cloud of disjointed memories and random phrases in my brain... it's amazing any of this is coherent at all... much to be laughed at if you were on the inside of my skull... but I've got five more hours to stay awake here at work and there's just two of us here at work so there are no breaks to be taken until somebody wanders in from the morning shift... hopefully the plan to get someone in here early will actually happen... meanwhile, I don't have internet access here at work so I can not go browsing around for inspiration or catch up on your diaries and journals (I really should consider getting a printer so I can print out your entries and bring them with me to work to read... even if I don't have the computer out, I can scribble notes and keep in touch better and occupy my time with you, which is a whole lot more fun than staring into walls or listening to work gossip or trying to ramble on when I am most zombie-like)... I think something just short circuited in my brain... I'm going for a walk and will drink some water and return in a little while... (and then I wrote the previous entry)...
