I think it's time for sleep now

"Anytime I see those videos of snow... I know we're going to get some colder weather"

~ Glenn Richards, Chief Meteorologist, Fox35 News, Orlando Florida

ok, maybe I paraphrased a bit, but the gist is there and all too clear... I really do not want to believe I live an area of vast and endless ignorance, but every time I accidentally listen to the news... maybe it's just that I was used to a different level of sophistication or intellectual pandering from the news people I remember listening to as a young child in New York City... maybe it's just that I thought they were more sophisticated or intelligent because I was a younger child... but I wish somebody would convince me there is intelligent life somewhere on this planet...

meanwhile, there was this...

I hope this guy gets his bridge built, even if, in the end, it leads to nowhere... I must thank this guy for that guy (especially if I ever read the book) and for this too (what a royal resume, huh?)... am I being especially obscure today?...

not intentionally, just maybe...

I like this mind... really, it could be the mood or sleep deprivation too, but I liked it enough to leave this note:

I like your mind... well, at least I was laughing during the last few entries you wrote... not laughing-at-you laughing, but laughing-cuz-I-relate-in-an-odd-sort-of-way laughing... it makes sense to me... and means no offense... so hopefully you're laughing too... with me, even... ok, so maybe it's the drugs I took in the sixties... anyway, hello J

so where were we?... turning off the news, for sure... I mean, I love believing I am learning stuff, like the space stuff that's been on recently... even though Huygens sounds a lot like it could be that word that Al Pachino said a lot in Scent of a Woman, know what I meant?... but I really have little stomach for the news (or the weather)... who writes that stuff?... it's not the blood or gore (I can eat lunch watching surgery), after all, I work in a hospital and have done my time in the emergency room of a military hospital... it's the pandering to ignorance and that trait in humanity that attracts gawkers at car accidents... and Titan's surface is like creme brule?... and this is what a PH.D. gets you?... next thing they'll be telling us the moon is made of green cheese...

and now for something not so different...

I can vaguely remember that there have been few times in this life when I feel an goo old-fashioned stop-everything-and-enjoy an authentic gosh and I just felt one... thank you...

some of you know all too well how rarely I think about editing myself (one look at all the typos in this dairy, or the disclaimer linked at the bottom right of every page disguised as 'see here now!' should give you some idea)... I babble... in loftier literary terms it might be called free-associative narrative or some such gibberish... Joyce, Faulkner, King (Stephen?... Allan?... the royal?... ML? {Happy Birthday}... yeah, yeah, yeah... huh?), and others have been so labelled... or Joe Christmas, for that matter... I'm not them (or them, for that matter), nor do I think (think?) I am anywhere near their league, wherever their league may be... though I do play in hypertext from time to time, as you may have noticed... much of my thinking is an afterthought...

I wrote an email (sort of) this weekend, which is often a call for excitement in my mind... and I am in the middle of writing another (always) to dear old friends in Oz... and that reminds me, I must get back to Gmail (thank you)...

but to think of me as one to give writing advice or editing assistance, well that just flabbered my gast but good... that is what happens when my flattery circuits get overloaded... I was almost speechless... and likely if I was not in such a silly dis-associative irreverent mood, I'd properly thank you...

may this suffice...

from Dr. Spock to Dr. Suess
I grew up healthy and rhyming
my body strong, my mind quite loose
they say it's all in the timing

but I don't know for I don't think
much about what I am doing
the words just flow, I let them go
I really haven't got a clue-ing

Chorus:
he knows not what he do
he has not got a clue
but his job is done
it's good
if we're having fun

he knows not what to say
or how he writes this way
and when his play is through
it's good
if it amuses you

and so, in the end (for the moment), all I've got to say is I hope you are thoroughly enjoying your day... or night, for that dark matter... I think it's time for sleep now...
