2004-10-02 - 4:48 p.m. just another Saturday morning and following the lines Seuss mused, "oh the places we could go" and oh the wonders we could see... oh the feeling we can feel and oh the people we can be if we'd just set our minds free, open our eyes and see... how your living honors me... oh, but your birth is a day to celebrate every day, so do (as I sense you do) and I shall too... and to be mentioned in your words is a precious tingle in my psyche, and then to see the likes of Santayana and Muir and a tribute to the child inside... let me stop to smell the roses, pause to reflect on clouds passing on still waters, gaze out on the world with eyes that see from my heart and feel the passion and play, be part of this world full of children large and small, let my last breath be a gleeful giggle and I'll have completed a wonderful life J I have always felt that my favorite squirrel (who gets an extra special hug right now and would appreciate yours too) was the only best source for inspirational, thoughtful, insightful, intelligent, meaningful, wonderful quotes around here (and she is still well worth reading daily), but I am happy to realize that there is now another best source for positivity and wisdom shining much brighter that the name might suggest (kilowatt?... my dear you are at least a megawatt)... I've been browsing around the web this morning (Mostly DLand) and copying CDs and talking to Precious (she seems bored again)... I've got music on, a variety of CDs I've not heard before... currently, it's a CD called they threw us all in a trench and stuck a monument on top by Liars... no lyrical insert and very minimal information, but the title was cynically amusing enough to catch my attention... so far (four songs in), the sound hasn't grabbed me and the voice is blurred, so they are not holding my attention well... before this one, there was the resignation by RX Bandits (which appears to have a CD-ROM second disk in it) and Story of the Year by Page Avenue, neither of which pulled me away from browsing much, but both will by copied for further listening some other time... and about a dozen other CDs were copied this morning (cuz I knew the music) including George Harrison, Rascal Flatts, Bare Naked Ladies, Bob Dylan, The Byrds, Bruce Springsteen, Steven Martin, and others I don't recall at the moment... as I recall (on a completely different yet still related note), psych texts on memory state that short term memory usually cuts off after seven items and if you can remember a list of more than seven items you are doing very well... I enjoyed the poetry I found here, though in some spots I related to the sentiment a whole lot more than the words themselves, but that is probably more my mood than a reflection on the words as I feel drawn to read more and the content matters most to me... meanwhile, around the casa, Precious is prowling for food and attention since her dad is not home yet... he's usually home about four to five hours earlier than this, so I suggested she call since worry lines were appearing on her face... she said she tried but his phone went right to voicemail... sweet, huh... least he could do is call his kid and tell her he's going to be hours late, especially since it's Saturday and the usual routine is wait for him for lunch and even more especially today since he said he'd do some repairs on her homecoming dress that she is hoping to wear tonight (she needs to learn to sew... I'll show her how if he doesn't come home in time)... her plans for today changed since he didn't come home to drive her and laziness won out over asking me... she probably figures (and rightly so) that her dad should be taking on more of the responsibility for getting her places and feeding her and just sitting and talking to her than I do... but then, I'm home and awake much more when she's home and awake and she's my little darlin' (though not so little anymore as her sweet sixteen will be in a couple of months... wonder what he's got planned for that... or will I need to come up with something and hand it to him... what a guy... but he's lovable when he's around, so we let him stay)... and me, well, I'm kick starting my workout routine and hoping my will power holds up at least a few days as this hurricane season has allowed me to become way too sedentary, so I'm resting my aching muscles this morning and might just spend the day watching some college football and wandering the web and listening to new music and copying CDs and whatever else turns up in the evening, if anything... I haven't eaten anything except papaya and a little cereal (Mueslix) since Thursday, so food will fit in somewhere (literally and figuratively)... and returning to the browsing (check them out, aye?) I've been doing (I don't know why I don't just start writing entries over there and leaving this for actual life in black and white, lack of organization in my brain, probably)... anyway, I found myself inspired to write this: sending hope as I found myself following lucien over to LJ (where the above was left) and found myself here for a while reading and collecting icons... I've never used those little pictures I see so many using, but when I saw she had created a bunch of Beatles pics I snatched them up... this time I remembered to put them in a folder so i can credit her if I ever use them... often I just impulsively save a picture and forget where I got it when I look at it again... one day, when I get a grown up computer and photo programs and stuff, I'll get myself a photobucket and add images and graphics to my words and then, look out, I'll be distracting myself even more (loving every minute of it... I am very visual, almost as much as I am literary... I just hide it well in words with a smirk and a giggle)... almost finally for now, I did make brief stops along the way in no particular order for your browsing pleasure... and in the end, a banner lead me to my favorite smoog, but there was no update there... tricky, that smoog...
