2005-09-09 - 5:38 p.m. parties, politics, pets, and heros there's more to this entry, but distractions have kept me away from the computer and other entries are also incomplete and iching to be uploaded and time is passing, so I decided to upload this one while I work on others and come back to finish this one eventually... maybe... my social conscience and political fever seldom lasts long... in fact, except for a few blurts, the last time I got anywhere near this prolific (and this is far from prolific compared to the pundits who make a career out of this sort of rhetoric) since the fiasco of the 2000 elections that, ironically, puts the whole eight years of history in an very different light... but that's another webbot.. I notice my page his keep going up, but my comments and notes keep going down... this may be related to my suddenly turning on the news and having more thoughts about life outsife of casa de candoor than ever before... maybe it's the emotional trauma of the storm and it's aftermath, including the government responses... maybe it's my criticism of the government and ranting... or maybe everybody's either on vacation or getting started with a new school year and has no time for commenting or notes... but the average page visits have gone up, almost doubled, so somebody is out there... hello, whomever you are... while the world watches what many consider a period that history will name the fall of the American Empire... wait... that's another story... this entry will most likely continue that pattern as I think about politics again... I don't support any particular group or party... I think calling them parties is indicative of the hypocrisy in politics and how we the people are viewed as ignorant by many in all the "parties"... I have little respect for people who choose to make a career out of trying to control other people without doing any real work... making empty speeches is not real work... the idle rich have no idea what the real challenges of life are about, yet they dominate the leadership in politics... and if you do not see their smirks, you do not pay attention... one reason I do not trust the Republican Party is that they openly lie and do is so boldy (with the threat of stirring religious controversy in virtually every statement) that people seem afraid to call them on it... the party platform (2004) is all about reducing big government... yet the biggest growth in government bureacracy in decades has come in the last few years (and the past two weeks demonstrate just how ridiculously ineffective, to the point of dangerous and deadly incompetence, such over-growth can be)... just think about it... an honest republican... they sure have come a long way from where they started... one of these days I want to make time to read why I am not Republican... but then, the Democratic party lie covertly and pretend they are cool while also using religion as a guilt trip and crutch, which may be just as bad or worse... and then there are others... what they all have in common is the leadership does not actually produce anything... no manual labor, no product other than a lot of hot air... just debate... controversy... and control trips... every party stands on the grand concept of freedom... and every party's basic purpose is to take some of those freedoms away... that turns the word "party" into an oxymoron upon itself... I suppose the same can be said for other professions (another word that gets a whole lot more confused respect than it deserves)... radio talk people, music industry people, actors... but then, the emotional highs they provide are much more worthwhile a product than the empty promises and control trips that people intend on going into government provide... and there is much more potential for physical labor in the music and entertainment industry (95% of the people are lifting and moving heavy equipment, after all)... and at least the entertainment industry knows the meaning of the word party... what's a party without the beloved pet?... I watch Bush (as many other Presidents did) hug his little lapdog (seems most Presidents like lapdogs... what's up with that?) as he gets on and off his expensive helicopter as he travels around making speeches and getting photo opportunities as he tries to make history look at him better than it might without the spin doctors and I think about how attached people get to their pets... and then... no you can not take your beloved pet with you, in fact, after we forceably remove you from your home, we will shoot your dog... being kind men with big guns, they don't make the pet owners watch... the news media, on the other hand, might... so for the moment, if you want a taste of the real world in the midst of the current cacophony of political media frenzy, I recommend: They are making this real for many people. The commercial news, the government, most websites have agendas that go beyond just trying to help and in many cases their information is usually second hand, third hand, or hearsay. choose your own heros... to be continued?... 18 * 19 * 20 * 21 * 23 * 25 *
