2005-03-19 - 6:18 p.m. missed opportunities and it appear Diaryland died again last night... this time it seems worse than the last as last time some pages could be accessed, but this time it appears completely dead and not just merely nearly dead... it's been almost twenty four hours now and still not even the members page or front page is up... so I went to LJ and added the second entry of the year to my journal and explored my friends list over there... that journal started long before this diary, but somewhere along the way I paused and it's been a while... the time and the lack of computer memory lead me back here... so this entry will be uploaded whenever the DLand server is back in action... this server glitch could not have come at a worse time as I was missing in action all week and worked an extra shift Friday and have a roommate's guest here who'll surely need some looking after (as they needed a ride to the Mall this morning because Rasputin needed to sleep) so I have little time this weekend for updating and most of the time I have is gone with the server crash... and now the concern that all the entries may be gone or corrupted, that would suck... time for a backup plan... the timing also leads to speculation that this was a deliberate hacking by a competitor as there are a lot of competing websites for personal diary services... I know I am on DLand much more on the weekends and I imagine many, if not most, have a similar usage pattern... how well a service can protect it's servers must be a major piece of the business plan these days... two of my diaries returned for a little while, but not my supergold, which makes me wonder what the point of paying the most for service when a free diary returns before the $50+ diary... this does not bode well for renewal... and needless to say, a lot of my browsing was away from DLand this week... links will appear here soon and tonight we went to see Robot, a film I highly recommend if you enjoy Robin Williams wit and cartoony stories... it was funny and clever and visually fun and a movie I would see again even if I didn't nod off for a few minutes in the middle cuz I haven't slept in more than twenty four hours... and yes, I cried at the end... well, near the end, the end was fun... robots showing their humanity, it just gets to me... in case you didn't know, I love a film that inspires happy tears... that's the way I am and I love me for I wouldn't know how to enjoy art without letting my emotions flow wherever the art leads them... before the film it was dinner at Macaroni Grill and our new guest already started having her good influence on me as I went vegetarian... I think I'll do vegetarian for the duration of her stay (three weeks)... I'll keep cheese in the diet though... and ice cream and dairy products... it would not be healthy to go cold turkey Vegan overnight... and after the film it was shaopping for vegetarian foods so the girl has something to eat, since Rasputin and Precious are heavy meat eaters and dislike almost every vegetable (they'll eat sweet potatoes with lots of brown sugar and marshmallows and they'll occasionally eat the sweetest bacon meaty baked beans they can find and less occasionally french cut string beans... a few times a year)... maybe I'll be inspired to get healthier again...
