special for storm watchers, I created a radar link page with links to all the radar pics I've saved of Frances... I still hear the rain and wind outside...

I nodded off here in the big green chair and find myself alone as I wake... the TV is blaring, though nobody is watching... for some reason my phone is disconnected from it's charger... and the desktop computer is reset (so CD copying came to a halt in the middle of a Pearl Jam live CD), so the power must have surged or blinked off for a moment... but someone must have been here to reset the cable whenever it happened...

and there are crumbs on all the counters again (I've cleaned all the counters three times today and each time more crumbs appear... it's as if they want to live in squallor and invite in the roaches and ants... it's not pure ignorance, cuz they know (I've gone through the way human habitants become comfortable abodes for insect-type critters often enough)... it's carelessness and forgetfulness... and they have really well developed crumb-creating habits and just a general lack of caring about the living space... it amazes me and I do my best to ignore it, but the three roaches I've found in past twenty four hours (the first three in a few months)...

this tells me that the Hurricane is forcing the critters indoors and they will find the food sources (crumbs in the carpet, on counters, in bedrooms, etc) so I will mention it to them again to hoping for a change of habit... maybe when the bugs start crawling on them in their beds when they sleep and wake them by trying to crawl into their mouths or ears or other orifices {bugs do that while you sleep, you know?... sure, read up about it... everybody's swallowed a spider or two... and you know when your ear gets clogged up?... ok, I'll stop} they will wake up to the crumbs)... they are very lucky I love them and enjoy nurturing and taking care of people (ya hear?... hey, I can always hope they started reading and will be shamed into cleaning up behind themselves... evil, am I?)...

meanwhile, I wonder where they are... the storm continues to weaken out there, but there are still strong gusts of wind and pounding rains and it is past a curfew that authorities said they will be enforcing severely due to some looting today and I doubt anything is open to go out to... hope they are ok...

and I've got to get ready for work (crazy, perhaps... work called this afternoon to find out if I was coming in tonight... I told them as long as I could, I would, but I had no way of knowing if the roads were clear or if an emergency might happen in the next ten hours... they told me my co-workers did not show up last night {my night off}... I suppose they wanted to emphasize that to encourage me to do everything I can to get there... the person who called said everyone who's out there was very tired... yeah, I guess... but then the people who volunteered to work all weekend know what they signed up for and are getting paid very well, even for the time they are sleeping and they can sleep there, so most of them actually brought their families to use the hospital as a shelter... they do not, however, have any respect for the sleep time of those of us who work nights cuz they continue to call me and others on the night shift at hours that would be 2AM - 4AM for their normal day schedules... that lack of consideration/respect is the main reason most night people do not volunteer for extra shifts and why most turn off their phones during the day... still, unless I am too deep into sleep to hear it or away from the phone, I usually answer... I am rambling on about work now {and stating the obvious}... it could be that I am not really in the mood to head out and drive in the dark in the storm to work, huh?)...

but I've been indoors too long...

Precious just walked in... she was outside with a flashlight and her phone getting some air and watching the rain... boredom finally set in, I guess... she's back to channel surfing now... apparently Raspy is asleep... so all is well here at casa de candoor and it's time for me to wipe the counters and get ready for work...

wait, there is my phone... who would be calling now... maybe one of you?... maybe a new friend?... excitement bubbles up suddenly... I'll be right back... ... ...

a wrong number... strange conversation with a stranger (brief, but much laughter)... and I am realizing that life around here is way too boring for this many entries in one day...

for some reason my laptop computer clock is running behind every day lately...
