ok, so it did break into four neat entries all by itself with hardly any explanatory notage or commentary (but give me time)... with each part I was more distracted by the clock in real time at the time because I was running late for work, so with each of these four comment born entries, more was left unsaid than said as the comment progressed... in time, perhaps, the rest will be filled in, but for now, back to the comment already in progress...

doesn't Hallmark buy trees from the third world?... yes, I'm sure I've seen the rainforest collection on some store shelf... oh, how the layers of cynicism thicken like coffee left on the stove on a slow burn for days... kind of like the slow burn after the ultimate heartbreak as loss turns from pain into rage with some blessed periods of numbness in between when you aren't quite sure if it's over or if you're just done...

and I think you sometimes confuse Serenity with the fabled (or fukkin) virgin mary...

LOVE IN BRIEF

can I pass up the underwear fantasy?...

apparently not...

Love of mankind springing from suffering resembles wisdom sprung from misfortune. In both cases, the roots are rotten and the sources poisoned. Only spontaneous love flowing with sincere generosity and self-abnegation can fertilize the soul of others.

Love born in suffering hides too many tears and sighs not to have its rays stained by a bitter clarity. There is too much torment, renunciation, and anxiety in this love for it to be anything but infinite forbearance.

You forgive everything, you accept everything, you justify everything.

But is this love? How can one love when one is removed from everything? This kind of love reveals the void of a soul suspended between all and nothing just as becoming a Don Juan is the only remedy for a a broken heart. As for Christianity, it knows no love: it only knows forbearance or compassion, allusions to love rather than love itself.

I agree, love in a vacuum, love in a time capsule, love purely in words (or on the internet, for that matter), is one, perhaps two dimensional... it is not the multi-dimensional experience that love can be and is far from the love I call satisfying in this world... and reaching deeper into what I see in your words...

I agree, love springing from suffering sucks (and not in any pleasurable sense)... love in spite of suffering is beautiful... the difference may not be as clear as it seems in words, perhaps... for Mother Teresa shared what most, including me, I think, a beautiful love... however her renunciation of the pleasures she could have enjoyed in her life was foolish from my perspective... she chose suffering, or at least extreme discomfort and risk, over all she could have experienced, enjoyed, and understood about life... though perhaps she did indulge in chocolate from time to time...

for me, to choose to suffer or greatly deprive one's self in any way for more than the time it takes to experience so that one can say they've experienced it is foolish...

but to see a child laugh with glee, genuinely enjoying the pleasure of sharing a moment even though that child is in a body twisted and in pain in a molded wheelchair due to a physical abnormality, that is love in spite of suffering...

to see a woman mixing cursing damnations with tears of joy as she experiences the biological act of giving birth, that is love in spite of suffering...

and to see a girl living for a year in a mental hospital, a girl torn up mentally, emotionally, and even physically by years of sexual abuse at the hands of her father and other men, to see this girl reaching out to comfort someone else who just arrived and thinks death is better than another moment of living in the hell she knows as life... that is love in spite of suffering...

yes... seriously...

and in conclusion, to see me have to tear myself away from the pleasure of your imagined company, to see me have to suffer the slings and arrows of an outrageously small fortune and face the painful world out there, to see me have to go to work now and still love you and love me and love the people I see and things I do in spite of how much I suffer away from my babbling and you, that is...
