2005-10-31 - 5:36 p.m. how goes yours? there I was innocently dreaming of petting a pretty pair of pups (there's just something about her bush that's always got me wishing I was there)... have you eaten her pumpkin yet?... maybe down under is the place for me... mmmm, down under... but enough about my favorite sexual positions, I am seriously finding commonality of mind with a few awesome Aussies lately (I always wanted to use that phrase... awesome Aussies... I know, it's probably been done a giblillion times before, but it's my first time, I think, so be gentle)... here's one now... I can relate to so much of what I read that I wonder why I am not there writing it... maybe I am... anyway, sometimes you just start reading and realize you've found a long lost friend you never knew you lost cuz you never actually met in this life and that, my friends, is always a big smile... especially if you understand what I meant... and then Ms Misanthropist (who's name reminded me of a favorite of more than a decade, the misanthropic bitch, but I don't think there's any actual biological relation) provided the following reminder that movies hide genius and prophesy in places you might least expect it: In 1930, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, in an effort to alleviate the effects of the... Anyone? Anyone?... the Great Depression, passed the... Anyone? Anyone? The tariff bill? The Hawley-Smoot Tariff Act? Which, anyone? Raised or lowered?... raised tariffs, in an effort to collect more revenue for the federal government. Did it work? Anyone? Anyone know the effects? It did not work, and the United States sank deeper into the Great Depression. Today we have a similar debate over this. Anyone know what this is? Class? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone seen this before? The Laffer Curve. Anyone know what this says? It says that at this point on the revenue curve, you will get exactly the same amount of revenue as at this point. This is very controversial. Does anyone know what Vice President Bush called this in 1980? Anyone? Something-d-o-o economics. "Voodoo" economics. that makes three blogspot blogger.com places in a row (oh, wait, I didn't mention Sippy yet in this post, did I?... well, now that makes three bloggers in a row over there at that other blogging community... I don't even have enough time to get through all my diaryland linkers and haven't visited my LiveJournal friends in weeks, and here I am exploring a whole new turf... there is just not enough time... once again, I petition for more... then, while scanning the web for more interesting new brain food, I found the Flooble Instant Blog Post Generator... and this is the instant blog post it generated for us today: Last week my parents were thinking about homosexuality among Japanese schoolgirls. They were a little disturbed by that stuff, so they asked my friend Natalie about it, and she screamed: well, imagine that... the program knows I am a pervert and told me where to go... I wonder if Natalie has any Japanese schoolgirl outfits she can model... yeah, well, not as much fun as the iGod, but definitely a potential for a brief mention in aan otherwise irreverent blog entry... or diary, for that matter... and moving right along to more cultural heights, I am proud and happy to report that z0tl updated again, which would suggest that he is still alive... of course his diary could be operated by a bot as there's a lot of that going around these days... well, did I mention that last Thursday we had what may have been a breakthrough meeting at work and many of the problems - lack of professionalism, favoritism, intimidation, unsafe mismanagement, lies and cover-ups, for starters - were laid out on the table for the two top administrators by six of the seven night staff that attended the meeting... they acted surprised and I think some of their surprise was genuine, though I am not sure if their surprise was about what they were hearing or if they were surprised that some staff had the guts to actually say it... the shift charge on our shift was called out for many different issues she neglected to take care of, including the ridiculous night she left herself wide open by confronting me when her actions were not professional or safe for the patients... thinking that she and the DON (director of nursing) could intimidate me into submission so they could cover up her mistakes as they've done with others for a long time, she and the DON did not take me too seriously when I told them our meeting was not over... or maybe they did... the DON was conveniently off for the staff meeting and the day after the staff meeting (Thursday and Friday), leaving the Shift Charge RN on her own to address the complaints that came from every subordinate staff in the room... for the most part, she had nothing to say... after the meeting I had my private meeting with the hospital administrator and associate administrator to discuss the night the shift charge handed me the last straw as well as the meeting with the DON that was supposed to correct the problems, but only left them both open for further scrutiny of their decision making abilities and professionalism... so the two chief officers of the hospital listened, showed surprise, concern, and dismay at what they were hearing, and assured me that they will look into it and get back to me... the administrator claimed to have not seen the incident reports I wrote about the night and I emphasized that supports our claim that middle management uses cover-up, intimidation, and retaliation tactics in lieu of actual management skills or fairness... the next night rumor had it that the Shift Charge RN had, shortly after the meeting, put in a resignation as shift charge stating that after almost ten years of being night shift charge, she wanted to return to just being a regular nurse... since I took off last night, I don't know if anything else happened (fast action is not the norm for the administration), but I'll let you know the outcome of the feedback I requested from the administrator... I was reminded to tell you about last Thursday and Friday's events at work by the Astrolabe website that provided the following astrological weather report for today: Astrology Weather of course this could be a case of painting the target around the arrow and have no real prophetic value, given the current events in politics in the US and the general trends in the deterioration of morality and ethics in government and religious authorities over the past few decades... anyway, if you're interested, they also offer a free astrological chart and reading... I do not know the time of day I was born, so the fine tuning dial doesn't work for me on these sort of readings as there can be vast differences between the hours of the day... and the whole concept of astrology has the same curious amusement for me that any system of beliefs based on faith or psuedo-science holds... but it's something to talk about... I do love star gazing... and now it is time for me to attempt to sleep since I've been off for three days and haven't slept much and it would be good if I stayed awake at work tonight without depending on caffeine... fat chance though, I've still got a few loads of laundry to do (did I mention I've been doing laundry between rambles all day?... probably not, I just love doing laundry so much... deep rooted bittersweet memories, you know, a chore becomes all the more ominous when the psyche gets involved)... and that's life around casa de candoor and parts within today... how goes yours?
