warning: men at housekeeping

ok, so what happened today was... I got home from work and sat down at Rasputin's computer to get it up and running again... apparently he had another virus or something and reformatted the drive and could not get the DSL up and running again... it took me about too many hours and a long, but slightly fun conversation with a tech support girl (the conversation went on long enough for her to require a potty break) and after trying trick after trick and being offered free wireless and all sorts of stuff I don't have time to learn about (I don't trust wireless yet), I climbed under his desk and changed the DSL filter and poof, it worked... too often this is how it works pout, long conversations with tech support until I decide to try something simple that we haven't thought of before and poof, magical internet connection again...

so maybe it's genius at work...

actually, it wasn't that easy because I had to actually find spare DSL filters that I had luckily asked the tech support people (I never get away with speaking to just one) I spoke to last year to send me extra filters and I happened to trip over them as I was looking for a flashlight so I could see when I crawled under his desk...

anyway, that was most of the day and then I passed out... ok, I fell asleep in the chair and woke hours and hours later even though I was in quite an odd position (legs up on a folding table, keyboard on a pillow on my lap, kinda sloughed in the semi-reclining fake-leather vynil chair)...

so maybe it's slacker at work...

and now, thanks to the kindness of the Sci-Fi channel, I am watching Dr. Who while copying files off my hard drive so the computer might actually run smoother (there's always hope)... I figured that a measely 12GB hard drive was maybe choking on the 10+GB on it and the long put off copy to CD storage process that means I can do nothing else but tap these words into a notepad file for hours on end has begun...

but nothing is as simple as it seems, ya know...

so as StarGate SG1 begins after Dr. Who concludes, I come to the third CD to burn and find there's not enough in the particular folder I was copying to fill a CD and I decide to go to the site that gave me the music that is in the particulkar folder that I am copying and (you guessed it) download some more...

the computer gags...

it is so not high-speed computer at work...

so it (the gagging computer) is currently downloading several multi-megabyte (like 100MB) files simultaneously while the CD burner is burning and that provides just enough loose RAM and CPU power to stutter through this babbling (and I mean stutter as even notepad is not keeping up with my typing, but rather accepting the key strokes in a rather jerky way... fitting for my writing, I suppose, but anyway)...

and the food was delivered...

what?... I didn't mention that along about midnight I ordered food?... the carnivore roared tonight at a meatball/pepperoni pizzza wrap sits beside a bucket of sweet and tangy wings and a tray of ribs and fries... decadence for a night off as I cast aside all knowledge or concern about health and indulge in powerfully spiced (especially with salts, mind you) sauce greasy animal flesh and fat (with the odd potato slipped in... of course the potato had to be fried to be acceptible for this feast)...

so maybe it's fat guy at work...

and so I am now buring disk four of music, mostly new to me, found on beat the indie drum and I'll listen to it one day when I have a computer that has room to unzip the files... yes, I am burning the fourth disk of zipped music tonight which will join the dozens of zipped CDs I hope to listen to one day...

someday...

somehow...

somewhere...

we'll find a new way of... oh yeah, the musical romantic sings again... I really do miss Monty Python and have forgotten more than most have ever known (about Monty Python and everything else, of course, believe it or not Ripley behing drooled on by an alien in her ever so skimpy undies)...

I forgot to tell the food place to send more Code Red, so I am drinking the last sips of it and savoring it's sugary goodness... I drank 30 ounces of water with the food (yes, I already ate... mostly... I am snacking now on the last of the heavily spiced meatfat...

so maybe it's heart attack at work...

and speaking of god (were we?)... why are there gods and children of gods, anyway?... I mean, just because one being has more power over matter, time, or space and another being is happily being in a more detached existence among the relatively infinite particles of the zuniverse?... why does the the god being even consider inflicting control over the other beings?... does it have some sort of inferiority complex that is only quelled by interacting with those much less aware or powerful?... wouldn't that be kind of like pedophelia?...

are gods pedophiles?...

ok, so leave any sexual connotations out of that query... what are we when we heard animals or put them in zoos?... what are we when we put ants in an ant farm?... or when we set up a wildlife refuge?... are we gods over the ants or wildlife?... pretty much, I mean, we do control them, know more about survival and the matter, time, and space, and decide how they shall live, what they shall eat, and if they are to survive...

are we bored with our lives, afraid to spend our time and energy building relationships and interacting with beings on our own level?... or are we just kind, altruistic god-like beings who live to help those beings who don't have the powers we have?...

how do we know they are not much better off without us?...

so what if there is some being somewhere that is able to control matter, time, and space far beyond our human abilities... does might make right?... is that what god is all about?... are we ants in some giant ant farm in some sort of being that is so far more powerful in this universe than we are that we humans are not much more than some science experiment in some kid's room?... maybe she's drooling on us in her skimpy undies...

yes of course there is sense in my segues, you just have to be far advanced in your mind to discover them, my children...

so maybe it's sophomoric rebel pseudo-intellectual random philosopher at work...

so what else is new?...

the CD burnings continues keeping me from chatting at blogmad or doing anything else on this computer, so naturally I amuse myself by letting my mind wander... you don't have to like where my mind wanders and you certainly don't have to follow me, but since you're here do you mind leaving a commment to let me know what you think or at least tell me why you are here?...

you see, I must ask because I am not really all that advanced a god...

or is it that if I commanded comments and got them then my secret would be out?... nevermind, either way it's way beyond the scope of our little human minds ability to to comprehend (as Dr. Who asked so poignently when presented with the limits of the human mind, "how do you get around in them?")... kind of like the girl in the commercial in the crowded elevator removing her business suit and heading off in skin tight spandex and a sports bra with her friend to ride bikes in the wilderness and face the fun of life with reckless abandon for any politically correct conventions or false modesty...

or not...

meanwhile, the DSL connection just went down in the middle of the downloads from beat the indie drum which gies me the opportunity to mention them again as I grumble about either the poor service or the poor old computer... seems I will have to reboot to fix the connection after this fifth CD is finished and then reconnect with the downloads I was downloading...

this will extend my time away from surfing and chatting at blogmad as well... or not well, as the case may be... which would make this the second straight day I did not go surf and play and chat at you know where (and you fifty people who joined blogmad on my referal link, why haven't you added me as a friend on your profile yet?... and don't be afraid to tell the world that you love me if you want me to know and add you to my list... lots of you are already on it, after all)...

I really ought to be doing laundry as I burn CDs and clear off my hard drive, since I have piles of laundry sitting around my room at the moment, but laziness continues to be the dominant song playing on the soundtrack of my mind so I sit here glancing up at the TV (which now presents the New Jersey Nets playing the Miami Heat in the National Basketball Association playoffs, in case you wondered)...

obviously the original title was sarcastic......

and music?... yes, I really ought to be listening to music too...

the TV just turns on a whole lot easier, ya know, I mean, just the push of a button... music, at my current level of technology, requires find a CD and placing it in a player and adjusting volume and so on... did I mention laziness is the dominant song playing on the soundtrack of my mind?... yes, I believe I did...

and I still have to find computer time (and time, period) to set my fantasy baseball teams because they are not set for tomorrow... I moved up into first in a few leagues and in the top three in most leagues after a horrible start, but the injuries continue to hit me hard as I had Matsui on most of my teams and if you follow U.S. baseball, you may know that Matsui is a premium fantasy player and he hurt his wrist and is expected to be out for three months, at least... he was a third or forth draft pick for me in most leags, so that hurts my chances a lot... and challenges me to pay closer attention and work harder to stay competitive...

ok, so after I downloaded all I could from beat the indie drum, I took a break from this babbling and challenged this computer a step further by checking out my space at myspace a bit and I am hardly ever there so I don't really expect any friend invites waiting, but being me I hope for them every time... I don't go there much because this computer has so little memory and the site is heavy in memory demand... it's the lack of memory on this computer that also keeps me from playing with graphics even though I love photography and when I was not poor, I had all sorts of great toys to use in my pursuit of visual stimuli...

it takes literally forever to record CDs with this ancient computer... I switched from Easy CD Writer to Nero after Easy CD locked up a couple of times with errors involving convering wma files or comthing and the system finally locked up from too much browser activity while burning a CD)...

so that's where I shall be for a while, maybe the whole weekend, maybe longer... and when I return I shall have much more space on my hard drive and many CDs for future exploration when I get a grown up computer and hopes of somewhat improved performance from this old computer and maybe much pent up babble to share...

I could so use another year off work to organize all the thoughts in my head and refocus my energy toward life again so I do not succumb so easily to this culture of death we human beings have created for ourselves... an oppressive demanding culture of death at that...

or maybe it's the kid in his room that does it to us...

yeah, well, I'll ask the Flying Spaghetti Monster next time I am in touch with the noodly appendages... until then, I wish you lots of free goose bumps and other excitements as you wiggle your way through the sand that passes as air in this fine feather world we call home...

I'll be back when the computer is lighter... until then, you can look at this one... and then, here are some people you should visit so they will thank me for sending you to them because you are a valued reader and they are well worth reading and me (and if you are not linked this time, feel free to leave a rude comment or call me up and tell me why you are the most deserving of all and I slight the world when I don't melt with you, or send money, that always works, but most of all, let me know you're out there), of course, well, I want something out of it too, ya know?...

maybe I would get it if I didn't ask for it so much...

revelation seven hundred fourty two thousand six hundred fifty four, and on that note, please click randomly on the wonderful people below... yes, the clicking is random, the people are wonderful...

if you are lucky, you'll find me again J
