2004-02-15 - 1:23 a.m. Happy Valentine's Day ok, so it just ended, officially (and if you arrived here thanks to a note I left, it {and whatever derivatives} was written by candora and will be explained, sort of, a bit later... it was a long day in normal time... I mean, I am a night person... I work a night shift because I am a night person... I enjoy the night more than the day... the night is more my home... the stars more my friends daytime sky... the quiet more comfortable than the rat race... it is not that the day offends me or is uncomfortable... I love sinshine and the way clouds paint pictures in the sky... I love rainbows and visual images, long glowing sunsets, vistas that stretch as far as the eye can see... I love photographs, viewing and composing, and all this requires light... I love light as much as dark... I think it is the quiet of the night that is most appealing... it is so much easier to hear what matters most... heartbeats, sighs, tears, hopes, dreams... these are so much clearer in what we call the wee hours... I have a nocturnal circadian rhythm... it appears that most humans do not... and I write... pondering life as I know it... when you live with others who do not have solitary creative activities to do with their time, they seek interaction and distraction virtually all the time... creative solitude is something that has to be explained to most people and many simply do not get it... today I woke to find the TV on with no one watching and Rasputin at his computer playing solitaire... Precious went to see Cheaper By The Dozen with new friends from school (excellent, invited to the movies by new friends during her first week... we should all be so easily adaptable to change, huh?)... I sat down to read a bit and decided to start sending Valentine notes to everyone who's left me a note this past year... little did I realize I'd need more than one day to finish that task... within an hour Precious was home and channel surfing and Sam (my former roommate) called because he was in town... with the DVD of the first season of Friends playing in the background, he came over to visit and pick up mail... and then we all went to dinner at the local Chinese buffet (not a great one, but nobody wanted to venture far from home in the rain so my idea for the better buffet was outvoted... my roommies are such sweet homebodies)... a few hours later (which would be a few hours ago) we got back home and I sat down with the laptop to try to continue reading a few favorite diaries and sending out the Valentine messages... Rasputin went to bed and Precious read off her DVDs to see which ones I had not seen... a blink or so later and Pirates of the Carribean was on the toob... so while listening to amusing dialog, I clicked on my note-leavers, sent a Valentine, and glance up at screen to watch amusing video, and repeat... dinner was good, friends are good, the movie was good, and just because I have no intimacy in this life today on this day for celebrating intimacy is no reason to end the day on a sour note... so I finally got through notes at one of my diaries (starting with candora made the most sense since that is where my heart dreams the most) and it's already the next day and here's another entry but the Valentine notes were supposed to lead you to the previous entry irreverently about eternal questions or some such stuff, I think... you decide... anyway, so now I'm sending belated Valentine notes in the hope to inspire your smiles... Happy Valentine's Day every one.
