how do we communicate?

on the second page that one might find if browsing my profile at eharmony there is supposed to be some information about me and how I communicate, I think... as I said in the previous segment, I'm amused and surprised at how way off some of these points are... but let's let the points (and my running commentary) speak for themselves... again, eharmony is indented, my comments are not...

Each person has a unique way of communicating. We use a combination of body language, facial expression, verbal tone and word choice to share ourselves with others. The following statements offer a look at the natural behavior you bring to an interpersonal relationship.

You tend to internalize conflict. As a result, if something about another is bothering you, you may bottle-up feelings and keep them inside.

I may have learned to internalize conflict over the years only because people are so repressed and afraid of honesty that I find silence to be more effective than speaking at first, but I am not good at pretending and dislike what it does to me so I rarely do it... I rarely bottle up feelings (except sometimes at work) and usually let everything out into words (so when I am not writing daily I become more frustrated)...

You have a communications style which many people are comfortable with almost immediately. You are sincere, a good listener, not pushy and overall a comfortable person to be near.

I hope this one is as accurate as I believe it is... it's the foundation of what I do on my job and it's what I seek from myself and my friends...

Others will notice that you are a sincere person about what you say and do. This trait, along with the excellent listening skills, creates an individual whom most people find pleasant to be with and a calming type of person.

well, I keep hoping more others (and especially the right other) will notice because this is also true as I know myself...

In communicating with others, you may support the mainstream ideas rather than new trailblazing activities. You may prefer the stable and traditional activities.

and that's where the streak of two accurate readings in a row ends as this one is way off once again... in so many ways, real and theoretically, I am as far from a traditionalist thinker as anyone I've ever known... I enjoy many stable and traditional activities, but I love exploring new experiences, places, people, things, and most especially ideas... new music and new ideas in science fiction are much more enjoyable for me than religion, if that gives you some clue as to how wrong this one is...

You may be less talkative than some others, but people will generally know how you are feeling by observing many nonverbal cues.

I can talk your ear off when I am in a talkative mood (and yes, I can talk the way I babble in writing), but I can go days (or longer) in silence as well if there's nothing to say or no one listening... I know that my non-verbal cues are and my awareness is sloppy these days, but I can understand them and can express myself and influence my environment with them when I am in shape and in touch with this body and if that does not make sense to you, we may be wasting our time...

"if you do not understand my silence
you will not understand my words"

You tend to be a good listener. Others may seek you out to share a thought or concern because of your empathic listening style.

others seek me out too much when I make myself available so I've become practiced at being unavailable along the way through this life... so this is accurate, when I allow it...

In your group, you may support the group leader rather than vie for a leadership position yourself. As a result, the group leader will usually appreciate the support you bring.

this can be true, especially recently as I am not interested in any sort of formal leadership role... but like it or not, I tend to find myself given the leadership role in groups... and even when I avoid it, I still tend to influence leadership decisions by doing enough of the leader's job for him or her so that my ideas often carry the group wherever it is going even when the leader takes credit...

You are somewhat reserved in meeting new people. As a result, you could benefit from more assertive people doing the appropriate introductions to new people

I have chosen to sit back and watch the wheels go round and round in recent years, but I have no hesitation walking up to anyone I would like to meet and saying hello and sharing much more... I just don't meet people I really want to meet or get to know much lately...
