ok, the brooding, moody quasi-depressive mood seems to be passing (with apologies for all you fans of brooding moody depressing missives if there wasn't enough for you... no worries, there's bound to be more eventually as life is an emotional roller coaster ride and I rise and fall with it... I've found that's much better than falling out or the car, usually... grin?)... surprisingly, the change is coming without a trip to the gym (yes, throw things at me, preferably soft things and not too messy, but a swift kick in the butt with bunny rabbit slippers would be on time right about now as I have vegged long enough to consider the first phase of the latest reawakening of the body over and it's now dive into phase two -or- consider myself unawakened, again, and another inch deeper into the couch where all couch potatoes eventually go to do whatever couch potatoes do when they slide betwwen the final cushions... ahem, yes, a serious point presented in an irreverent parentheses, what did you expect?)...

yesterday's kinda count-my-blessing entry (yeah, go look, it is meant for you) must have helped, as did a long talk with the manager at work this morning (if remember that meeting I mentioned last week, well it finally happened and was much more pleasant than it could have been and we appeared to have reached an understanding... now the trick is going to be for the message to get to the rest of the team without alienating them even further... sheesh, I must be on a hopeful cloud, huh?)... serious: every one of your notes and all feedback really is a blessing... never doubt it, even when I forget from time to time...

and now, for an irreverent segue...

did anybody notice that I am accepting cheap thrills here now?... yes, you can glorify me at that website that counts the times it was reached through this page... amazingly, I am getting more clicks than I'm doing myself (errr, should I look sheepish?) and that is a thrill... cheap cuz it doesn't cost anything, not to denote value... those silly numbers and rankings have some intangible thrill to them... go ahead, call me shallow, but try it yourself...

I knew I was going to mention the link sooner or later... I don't expect to be in the top ten anytime sooner, but maybe the top twenty?... come on, we can do it? (I surely don't have time to do it without you... the link is just over there on the left... cheap thrills, yeah, that's the ticket)... I think I've begged enough for one entry... next topic...

maybe I need a banner (this is a new topic?) with boobs flashing in neon or something radical like this is the entrance to the next revolution or a call for the impeachment of the president for doing something ridiculous like getting us into another Vietnam... naaaaa, that'd never happen, huh?... and half of you out there are wondering what's a Vietnam, no doubt... I must be getting old... and that surely isn't a banner... hmmmm, old fart mates with young nubile (is nubile the same as young or similar enough to be redundant?) innocent beauty, film at eleven... young stud bangs wealthy older women for big bucks, get paid to watch!...

anyway, I just found out yesterday that Rasputin might be driving up to Ohio this weekend and he wants me to go with him but it's kind of late notice for work and I do not want to call in again because I did that twice (two days each) in two of the last four weekends... not the greatest pattern, but also not as bad as it seems as I always arrange for coverage before calling... at least I used to... they've gotten crazy about not wanting to give out overtime lately so they don't want people to arrange their own coverage unless it's not overtime and that's just too much extra work for the measly bucks they are paying me so the on-call managers will just have to do their job and call around for someone to fill in for call-ins for a while... thinking... I don't know why I even feel considerate for my co-workers at the moment after what they pulled on me last week, but that's just me... don't want to leave them hanging... so maybe I will be in Ohio this weekend and maybe I won't... I think I would bet won't... but then, only time will tell... it always does, if we're listening...

one thing pulling me to stay around here is the gym layoff... I do not want to let another week go by and if we left Friday I'd probably only get one night at the gym before a long four or five day road trip (actually, he's taking off the whole week so he might stretch the trip into a whole week) and as much as I love road trips, I am vegging way too much again and must kick start asap (and for more than just one day)... on the other hand, a change of scenery could be a good kick start for my brain and who knows what else... should I mention that I've tried to get through to work four times today and as usual the manager is not at her desk and this is not something I want to leave on voicemail, especially not after last week?... yeah, I'm thinking about it... but not hard enough to remember to ask about time off at the meeting this morning... I'll probably try again later... flip... flop... flip... flop... who knows where I'm gonna plop...
