2004-08-23 - 8:24 p.m. busy vacation, huh? yes, back again... I spent the last few hours realizing just how limiting 64MB and a 300Mhz processor really can be... I installed EasyCD Creator 6 on the desktop and ooops, it took hours to get it off and get the desktop in working order again... I had to shut down wrong to get it to start up in Safe Mode so I could uninstall the program because it would not uninstall... either because it needed more RAM to function or the program protected itself from uninstallation, but I lean towards the RAM idea cuz everything locked up from start up and it required 128 MB RAM (which I only read about after it was installed which is the drawback of not having manuals and documentation with programs)... so when I finally got it uninstalled I took a chance and reinstalled only the CD copying component hoping there'd be enough memory on the old computer to deal with it... so far, I think there is... so I started finally copying the library CDs that have been here a few weeks... the library was nice about waiving the fines on the stuff I kept over the blackout time... three are due today and could not be renewed, so I'll copy them tonight and get them back in to the library tomorrow... just look at the kind of excitement you miss not being here... then I came here to start this entry and along came Precious who was working on a report on philosophers (she had to choose a few philosophers and, based on their philosophies, have them answer questions and have some sort of conversation... she chose Marx, Spinoza, and Berkeley (which would probably make for an amusing conversation) and my brain was picked a bit for some ideas on how to do the paper... naturally I thought of Monty Python, but I didn't tell her about them just now... I figure her teachers might want her to take the assignment seriously... and then, shopping for food and a few things for her... we head out to my car and it won't start... same thing that happened to Rasputin's car the day after the hurricane... I wonder if it's the electricity in the air short circuiting cars... anyway, that sucks and I'll have to get up early tomorrow and figure out where I'm going to take the car to get it fixed... major suckage and awful timing... luckily, Raspy got his car fixed just before he left so we took his car... I must be crazy going to Wally Mart in the evening... two hours of wandering around the place saying excuse me and waiting in line and making faces at babies and the usual stuff... so we stopped for pizza on the way home and I've got to have a talk with myself about budgeting when Raspy gets back... but the pizza was excellent, so how can I be upset about anything... while we were out, I got a call and I'll be heading into work for a party for one of the people tonight... one of these days I'll actually start my part of this vacation I'm supposed to be taking, huh?... and I'm moving right along in reading the fourth Potter book... oh yes, we mustn't forget that I've been wandering around the web in most spare moments between other stuff mention here and other stuff not mentioned here and also between the stuff between the stuff too (after almost two weeks cooped up inside my cyberhead, my cyber selves are bursting to get out and explore and leave little notes) and you know it's only a matter of time before I slip links in and hopefully find time for a browsing entry (and how about you leaving one too?)... I'm off to the work party now... life is just too much fun around here, how about yours?
