2005-11-21 - 2:12 p.m. boingboing after reading about the first trio married in the Netherlands, I found myself on a browsing spree and this entry will be full of it, that is, links to stuff I browsed through in recent days (of course some news may be dated since it took weeks to get this entry uploaded, but then, if you just go by the date at the top and where not here in real time, nevermind)... it seems that after years of anonymity (or is that obscurity), online blogs (diaries, journals, web pages) are getting much respect from mainstream media (well, some are)... maybe more than the writer originally intended... I know my personal reasons for writing are mostly selfish and my personal reasons for posting my words online are mostly in hopes of finding friends and more, but that's not the point of this point... my reasons for being online are not to influence anyone, suggest what you or anyone should do, or to tell you what's right or wrong... and the creative freedom of free associative rambling that I do is a treasure for me and probably the best thing about the US constitution and the reason I choose to live in the US over other countries... freedom of speech... but is it time to censor what you say in your blog?... I've got a lot of thoughts that are not quite ready to come into words about the recent attempts to curtail the rights granted in the constitution under the guise of national security and for now I'll just say that the use of scare-tactic politics should be a federal crime carrying mandatory sentences including at least being banned from running for any public office, complete loss of any pension or other benefits, being barred from working for any company who gets government contracts or who's primary purpose is to influence public or governmental decisions, and some jail time in a real jail, a federal penitentiary not in the white collar country clubs in which some of the rich and powerful do their time... but I leave the politics and religion for those who are interested in the subjects and meanwhile, I am ticked off at SONY... scary as the thought may be to a music lover (read: addict) such as myself, until further notice, I will not buy another SONY CD or play another SONY CD on my computer... here's why: the story starts here (very technical)... simply put, is SONY sneaking what amounts to viral software onto your computer in order to prevent you from copying CDs?... it's no longer a question... the answer is a frightening YES if you've played a SONY CD on your computer lately... and they are not the only ones... find out if you are infected and how to protect yourself now (commercial product)... SONY continues to respond to the exposure of it's underhanded use of technology to make changes to your computer without your knowledge... but while reacting immediately to being caught is tantamount to a confession of guilt, patching is not enough... now they offer a so-called patch you knowingly download and install... can you trust the fox in the henhouse?... what else are they hiding?... look for a class action lawsuit in the future as what SONY is doing is loading illegal (secretly installing SPYWARE on your computer)... you can contact SONY directly (and probably be added to their mailing lists) using this form and request a program that will uninstall their hidden software with this form... expect SPAM at any address you give them, so I'd suggest setting up a one time address just for this purpose... meanwhile, on to other social ills and cures... hey, remember the flying spaghetti monster?... well, here's another story of creation (no wait, this one is serious and so am I, mostly) that needs to be added to the intelligent design curriculum... it was Glooscap, actually, who was the first man according to the Micmac (or Mi'kmaq) Algonquin traditions... in other documents, there's even talk of Glooscap being one of the Knights of the Templar or Mason (you may recall these groups were brought back to popular culture by The Davinci Code and other books recently)... the wikipedia tells us Glooscap created, or at least molded, the world, even the turtles... some gather to worship Glooscap by curling... on the site Big Things in Nova Scotia we can find a woman reaching for salvation (oh now, did I just write that?... well, I suppose this is where I am sliding into my semi irreverent mode... I include this bit of information because I in no way wish to detract from the seriousness of the premise that Glooscap and all theories of creation should be included in any curriculum that includes Intelligent Design (and that should not be a science class unless the primary study is anthropology or history and not purely myth... and now, back to my rambling, wherever it may go)... and I doubt Dr. Who needs to worry, but Dr. Glooscap has his own video game, though I am not sure the two Glooscaps are related, nor do I think, is this Glooscap... but back to our original Glooscap, leave it to those wacky Canadians (whom I love dearly) to give Glooscap his best tribute of all, even though the article credits the British... British Canadians, no doubt... of course they are trying to keep it hush hush as the reference article (see?) has been removed from the paper, apparently for propriety, but we're in luck because we've found a photo of the statue of Glooscap that now makes the woman reaching for salvation in the previous article I linked much more understandable (or much more irreverent)... remind me to put the photo up here if they take it down again because, after all, Glooscap would want to be remembered before his circumcision, wouldn't you?... and since I have been known to be quite perverse in my own little universe, just cuz I am such a humanitarian and care about everyone, even the lowest scum of humanity, and in case you happen to be a pervert, I though you might appreciate this warning: perverts beware... and then go see Jesus's Porn girls... oh, I know, they mean well so they are good and alright and forgiven for posing in pictures on the internet that, at first glance, give the site the look of a porn site (what?... how do I know?... oh, well, I read some articles... I mean, I don't actually visit or download any internet porn myself... and I am also a five year old girl with a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you, but that's besides the point)... I think the devious ways religious people try to control our minds is almost as bad as the scare tactic politicians that cover up their greed and corruption with the veil of national security and should be also penalized for their intrusions into our lives that violate the constitution... for their own good, of course... and seriously, think about Alaska oil production vs. natural wildlife... too far away?... how about the Gulf Coast?... the simple physical truth that this planet has a finite amount of natural resources and our conspicuous consumption (read: greedy gluttons) is the single action we take as humans toward our eventual extinction... we are so far out of touch with our natural instincts for species survival (just look at the number of smokers, drug addicts, and chemically dependent people among us) that our love for our children is a virtual pretense because somewhere along the line one of our children's children's children will lay on their death beds cursing us and our generations for the choices we make every day today... I need to listen to some Moody Blues... moving along to happier thoughts, I found another person I want to meet (and not because she's sold penises on ebay for hundreds of dollars)... it's really all about the eyes, at first... I wonder what happens to an ebay link after the product is gone... I guess we'll find out soon ok, I know I am merely mostly reading the erudite boingboing and repeating information already posted on the net, but then, that's what boingboing does, isn't it?... he's just been on TV... and I am being selective to create an information entry that reflect me and my interests and that is partly what this diary is about, introducing me and my interests and my daily life (in black and white, no less)... and some of this information is very worth knowing, passing along even... but ultimately I record it here in the hope that anything I write down will become part of my mental storage, aka memory, and therein help me out somewhere along the way in this life (offline too, I mean)... like I hope I remember to not get my computer infected by SONY, for instance... of course my ramblings would need a really great editor to sort out the subjects and styles and such and add formatting and design and images and all the accoutrements that popular blogs have before I'd get any sort of media or even popular attention... after all, given my anything goes irreverent free-associative stream of consciousness damn grammatical conventions playful linguistic style (hey, do I have a style?), most of my web gems or bits of genius or quotable quotes or potent potables, even, are lost in the mass of words... and besides, I do this for myself first and for you, dear readers, who care... as I've said and meant many times, I seek no fame or fortune, just a few good friends (see my profile if you don't believe me... like you'll believe that any more?... inside joke for us, dear readers)... the rest of the world can come and go as they please, or not... and upon further review and reflection, I give you my current stance on the whole fame and fortune question... I don't seek fame, but I could use a little fortune... and just when I thought I was done for the moment because I really must shower and eat and get to work on time tonight (whenever that may have been), along comes one red paperclip... brilliant!...
