a day of rest

there is a strong scent of urine in the air here again... though I believe it is not urine, rather, it is fish-stank... that is, Rasputin is a shipping manager for a wholesale fish company and he's into the product a lot so his clothes smell of fish when he gets home and his nose is desensitized to the odor (or any odor, I believe, which is probably why he doesn't notice the kitchen stinking when it does) and he washes his clothes on the weekends and so by Tuesday his fish smelling clothes develop a pungent fish-stank that permeates the air... ah, life with a fish man...

that's one reason I usually burn candles when I am awake... f course I have to clear the counters of plastic cups, bags, paper, and other flammables each day as they tend to pile everything on the kitchen counters until there's no counter space left... and when I forget to light candles, I sit here distracted by fish-stank...

whatever happened to the Dland servers must have been massive because some of the features are still not back, but at least I was able to add an entry to the cdstacks diary which lets you know what's in the current CD stack next to the big green chair so you can know what music may be currently piped into my ears (we are up to Cat Stevens at the moment and this is one of my 100 all-time favorites CDs)...

I have a rare half an hour of silence here at casa de candoor as the girls are out at a movie party at a friends and Raspy is at work... unfortunately, I'll be leaving for work in just over a half hour... when i got home this morning, the TV was on to a tbs station movie... in case you don't know, tbs and tnt are Ted Turner owned stations and Ted owns a lot of movies, so there are sometimes good movies on those stations... unfortunately, Ted has no respect for an artist's work and feels he can alter the art as he pleases (maybe you recall colorization?... that was him), so every movie on his stations are edited (and from what I can tell, they are edited for prudes and people with very narrow minds)... in other words, no matter what the movie once was, it becomes G rated, or at least PG rated on a Turner TV station... I love many G and PG movies, but I do not like at all a film missing pieces of dialog or images when I've seen the original...

in other words, if you watch a film for the first time on a Ted Turner TV station, you are probably not seeing the original film... the guy would probably edit the Bible if it was on his stations... or at least colorize it...

ironically, Ted panders to the masses (obviously money, and not morality or any ethical issues, are his bottom line) and shows more R movies on his stations than G or PG rated movies on tbs or tnt, so most films are edited... why bother... I don't know if it's a power trip or ego or what, but it sucks and so I rarely watch those stations... if I wanted to watch films fit for church, I'd go to church instead of the movies...

so anyway, Rasputin was nodding off in front of an edited version of Wild Wild West this morning, so I tuned out the TV (except for a few funny bits of dialog, especially the meeting between the Fresh Prince and the wheelchair guy {Will Smith and Kenneth Branagh} or when Selma Hayak grabbed my attention) and opened this box to start an entry... within a few minutes I was nodding off and crawled to bed (because I'd be awaked by the girls if I nodded off in the big green chair this week... spring break, European visitor, lots of excitement)... and about eleven hours later I woke to silence... a wonderful novelty around here... sleep and silence...

I love this CD...

in other news, I may have decided to finally drop the excess weight I put on in the last seven months since the hurricanes blew awake the routine I was getting into again in the previous six months prior to the big winds... I am fasting... of course sleeping all day makes that easy and it's only been one day, but my usual change-of-habit way is to start with a fast or a couple or few days to cleanse the body (lots of water, some vitamins, that's about it)... whether I shall actually continue the change (whether it is a change or not) shall be seen in the next few days... if I make it through to tomorrow night and add in some more exercise (the brief initial upper body work I did yesterday may have kicked off this healthier cycle, with our cute vegetarian guest adding some influence), there may be reason to believe I will not appear as a beached whale when sunbathing this year... if I sunbathe... I didn't last year, which is not like me...

and enter the girls... and Precious straight to the fridge for some sugar drink and the cup sits on the counter (along with the cups from earlier today, yesterday, and from the movie we went to see over the weekend)... living with two people who have the worst health habits (and sloppy living habits) is no excuse for me to neglect mine, but my chameleon-like personality and taste buds are willing and loneliness and hunger to share and nurture make for a powerfil force leading me to the dark (unhealthy/sloppy) side... but I shall go to work tonight without eating (I may take some oatmeal along just in case there's food there and I get a craving to eat something or just be social)...

oh well, I thought I'd have a half hour of silence... they watched Airplane!, White Chicks, and Finding Nemo... the half hour is just about up anyway...

I still love this CD...

and I still have not had time to finish any of the previous nine entries that were uploaded all at once on Sunday after DLand was dead for a few days and I had a busy week last week and put off uploading until Friday when DLand died, temporarily at least... this week I intend not to put off the uploading, even if it means shorter entries (who me?) or many more typos (who me again?) or uninteresting dribble...

if you had a birthday recently, Happy Birthday and if you didn't Happy Unbirthday... I would appreciate it if you would send me your birth date so I can feel really bad about forgetting it next time it comes around and then try to motivate myself to create an amusing (if sheepish) belated birthday rhyme that conveys my sincere wish for your happiness and celebration of life while extolling the virtues of celebrating every day as much as any other day... and maybe I'll get around to making that calendar I wanted to make if I have some dates to put on it... so yes, please send me your date of birth (year not necessary if you are not comfortable with your age)...

and now, I must head to work... I hope your day was more exciting than (or just as restful as) mine...
