I do not intend this to start any sort of rhetorical political debate... but our government works for us, in theory, by law, and it is time we took charge through the power of persuasion...

a million emails and letters and phone calls to an elected official's office all saying the same thing will have an effect...

let's do it...

I firmly believe another task we must undertake is talk and write to our elected officials, those people we voted into office, those leaders who are supposed to work for us, we, the people... we need to tell them, en masse, what we want done now...

our tax dollars, upwards of two hundred billion dollars, along with tens of thousands of people and millions of man hours are right now rebuilding the country of Iraq...

hopefully there is much much better organization in that relief and construction project ten thousand miles from our homes than there is in this country right now...

tell your congress person, your senator, your state officials, your president that you want your tax dollars to be directed toward helping rebuild American citizens homes and lives...

tell them we want to see more of our tax dollars going into rebuilding American lives than are presently pouring into rebuilding Iraqi lives... no offense to Iraqi's or any other peoples, but we the people of our own country deserve at least the same benefits of our national government's wealth and power that other countries receive...

we, the people of the United States of America, are worth the most intensive (and expensive) relief and rebuilding effort ever undertaken in the history of mankind... right now...

let that be our primary national agenda for now and until every last displaced person has at least the home and life they had before this storm took everything from them...

the Army Corps of Engineers were in the eighth year of a ten year project to rebuild and reinforce the levees in New Orleans when, in 2003 and 2004, Iraq became more important than the safety of the people of New Orleans...

New Orleans pays the price for President Bush's foreign policy agenda now...

and millions of people east and west and north of New Orleans should not be made victims of our government's choice to pour billions of dollars into other countries at the sacrifice of American people and property...

our tax dollars...

it was a mistake to cut the budget and stop the project to protect New Orleans from a catastrophic storm... let's make sure that mistake is corrected now...

it will probably cost a hundred times what that Levee project would have cost to rebuild the Gulf Coast, but if we have hundreds of billions to pour into Iraq and other countries, we damn well better have even more money to save and rebuild lives here at home...

tell your elected officials what you want done with your tax dollars...
