soon to be several entries

no time this week to get here or check mail or anything so far, but I hope to be back with this weeks entries tomorrow, or Friday, I hope... and I hope all is well in your lives...

until I get back, here's bits and pieces of what will become the entries you will hopefully not miss:

vitality!... hey, there's info on BlogMad... you can still join and receive all the prestige and rewards of being in the first wave, the charter members, the pre-launch referral sign-up campaign, the special privileged few who know more than everybody else out there and yes, you can still be a VIP...

just you, nobody else, there's just your spot open and they're holding it just cuz you're such a wonderful person and especially cuz you're a loyal reader of this babbling...

see, your pain and suffering through all these words can finally pay off... you can, I hope you will, please please do, cuz I love you and want you with me at the top of the world, join me in blog madness...

yeah, I hope you sign up...

good new is I've gotten no junk or any negative feedback at all from my sign up more than a month ago, which is an excellent sign... they are taking their time to do it right, to connect up a network of diarists, journalists, bloggers like us... so if you want more readers who are interested in your writing, then join me in blog madness

and now, here are the bits and pieces I mentioned earlier:

roman graffiti
maps

radio playlists

knowing that I've probably broken every rule in the book, I probably should make time to read blogging tips cuz, after all, I want to do whatever I am doing here right... so much to learn and know to be a problogger...

still trying to find the meaning of life...

LadeeLeroy...

or you could read about the kittens on Mars...

I just watched Black, a film from India by Sanjay Leela Bhansali (you'll need the subtitles because it's not all in English)... it's interesting how the film (and the special features) switch from English to an Indian language (I'm guessing Hindi) in mid sentence... whether it is my sappy susceptibility to emotionally cathartic film, to teacher-student relationships, to life-changing relelation-type subject matter, or just that it's a great film, I was absorbed for the whole watching and fell in love with the characters... Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee were amazing together, he as a teacher gasping his last breath of hope and faith in himself and she as the student who gave him the chance to believe in himself and someone else again... it's similar to the Helen Keller story with a few twists and ket changes and for me, more depth and humor and beauty... I'll be looking for other films Amitabh and Rani are in, as well as Nandana Sen (who played a smaller role as the sister who could see and hear) and Ayesha Kapoor who played the main character as a child and I've got a new teenage crush (I still love Hermione too)...

as if I didn't need more proof that I am a total perv and need to get old fast so I can away with statements like the one I am about to make, Ayesha Kapoor is absolutely adorable and I found myself thinking that I hope she makes more films as she grows so I can start lusting after her without feeling like a pedophile...

I know, propriety says I should be shot...

the adult stars were beautiful too (I love Indian eyes)... but all lustful fantasies and silliness aside, this film was powerfully beautiful... it's been a while since I felt that and wanted to share a film like this... so go find it in your video store or library and love it too... you will if you love emotionally profound stories that inspire hope and tears and miracles and reality all at once...

and another thought came to mind as I was watching... do people, and I mean people who do not become priests or nuns and actually keep their vows of celibacy, actually go through ten or twenty or longer periods without sex?... I mean, is that something that happens a lot to people in this world in various cultures?... I wonder how many...

and could get answers we can actually believe?...

see, the main characters are a teacher and student and unless there was much more backstory for the teacher than shown, neither had any sex for more than twenty years... they approached the subject in the story and acknowledged that the deaf blind girl might never get it on with anyone and maybe someone who is so sheltered by lack of senses could be placed in a position where sex does not happen for her, but the teachers was a fully independant man with all his faculties, so it got me to thinking the thoughts in the previous paragraph...

I wonder if there are any accurate surveys...

oh, for the record, the film I watched was Black (2005), not Black (2004) or Black (2003) or Black (2003) or any of the other Black films listed at IMDB...

seems to be a popular title...

...

Humor is the only test of gravity, and gravity of humor; for a subject which will not bear raillery is suspicious, and a jest which will not bear serious examination is false wit.
-Aristotle

And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.
-Kahlil Gibran, "The Garden of the Prophet."

Treading the soil of the moon, palpating its pebbles, tasting the panic and splendor of the event, feeling in the pit of one's stomach the separation from terra ... these form the most romantic sensation an explorer has ever known ... this is the only thing I can say about the matter. The utilitarian results do not interest me.
-Vladimir Nabokov, quoted in The New York Times, July 21, 1969.

To absent friends, lost loves, old Gods, and the Season of Mists. And may each and every one of us always give the Devil his due.
-Neil Gaiman, "Season of Mists."

We do not see things as they are - we see them as we are.
-Anais Nin

The autumn leaves are falling like rain.
Although my neighbors are all barbarians,
And you, you are a thousand miles away,
There are always two cups at my table.
-T'ang Dynasty poem

Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle, and quick to anger.
-J.R.R. Tolkien

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy, and good with ketchup.
-Anonymous

The worst sin toward our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them: that's the essense of inhumanity.
-George Bernard Shaw
