living in the material world

this is part of this entry...

last week I found this stock report at work, I might have mentioned it... it was a Nano Technology stock selling for $2 and change... it opened in September of last year for a nickle a share and the company made some good aquisitions and has good plans and instinct said buy now... I took a copy of the report home with the intention of opening a brokerage account somewhere (since my account from before I lost everything is probably dead, but it's something I'll check into eventually since I did have one stock left on that account when I abandoned the financial material world) and picking up the stock... just an impulse, a lark, a spree (it's very clear to see)... just a spoon full of sugar that I hope would stay sweet... just a test of my instincts (once I bought a stock for 58 cents a share... it topped off over $20 a share and it's currently worth $4.06 a share... I still own those 200 {or was it 300} shares, technically, though I left the stock certificate in Toronto and would have to do a trace with the company and see if it can be found and proven as still mine)...

anyway, I couldn't find the stock report when I got home... I probably left it at work... I decided that leaving the report at work must have been the universe (or my subconscious, or both) telling me that it was not time to take a flying leap back into very speculative stock trading just now...

today I found another stock report at work (they appear weekly)... it was pushing the same stock that caught my eye this week... it was listed as selling for $3.12... I forget exactly what it was selling for last week, but I am pretty sure it was under $2.50 and so I would have made more than $50 on every hundred shares I'd have bought last week... in just one week...

I remembered to bring home the report today... I checked online for three of the most popular online brokerages and picked the best deal and signed up, opened an account, deposited money, and went to buy the stock... it was selling at $3.20 at yesterday's market close... after thirty minutes today it was up to $3.29...

the site told me I was not allowed to buy the stock for seven days because it is a speculative stock... some rule that the support people said could not be broken... I almost closed the account, but I figure it's one more message from the universe that either I am not to buy this particular stock or that I am to miss out on a great opportunity because I am not mentally or financially organized or I simply am being taunted to take an even greater risk next week when the stock might be over $4...

oh well, so I won't make an easy few thousand extra dollars this month... c'est la money... I'll just have to keep my eyes open for ways to play with the monopoly dollars I put into the brokerage account...

and then, the mail brings in another Rilo Kiley CD (The Execution of All Things) from the library and I am so loving their sound... I still have not found/made time and space to truly absorb the whole of their moon (see The Waterboys for the reference and then, maybe not), but the sound is appealing and the snips of words that are sinking in have not put me off (which is always a good thing, since the difference between a great group and a favorite group is almost always the words... music is still so much more fun than money...

it is very near time to clean up the cluttered space around me... I have a dozen stacks of CDs spread out on the six or seven tables that surround the big green chair... and there are a couple dirty dishes from this morning as well... and a gallon jug of water and a bowl of cheerios (which seem to be magical because they can sit out for days and still be crunchy for a snack) and bottles of mustard and ketchup and chocolate syrup and several stacks of mail and various other sundries... yes, it is very near time to clean up...

another project I want to find time for is the continue process of copying library CDs, which has taken a hiatus for the last two weeks... and while I'm on that subject, the listing (typing in data entry stuff) and cataloging of all the CDs I now have in my CD books would be great since CDs in CD books can not be visually scanned like CDs on a shelf in their CD boxes and I don't remember all of what I copied (much of which would not fall into a favorites stack because I copied lots of CDs I've never heard and some are better than others)...

I have neglected thanking lastyearsgirl for the musical input this week... she definitely deserves more attention than she gets from me, but then, she's not the only one (yes, I do mean you)... I have not been over to LJ this week as I've barely been able to squeeze out entries here in the time between work and sleep and life...

other parts to follow...
