wow, it is so sad that humans refuse to be open and honest with each other and say only partially what they mean and play passive aggressive games with and without even knowing and they seem so confused and afraid and contradictory and self-defeating and undermining of each other... the family of man, so to speak, is so very disfunctional and it presents itself so often on every level of interaction that it is accepted as normal and any attempt to change the way it is can bring popular opposition, defensiveness, or even justified anger and hostility...

meanwhile, in other news, after most of this first decade of this particular millenium disconnected, the oft mentioned toronto returns as a skipping young girl in a party dress pausing for moments to sniff and perhaps pick a flower and spin around (twirl?) and giggle playfully as if no time has passed at all since the last connected and communication, except to forget most of the loose ends and shattered stuff that never did get cleaned up... such a very strange sense of relief and bliss mixed with audacity and sorrow (and maybe even a touch of discord, cuz every great epic masterpiece has a touch of discord, right?) blends in to the play as the layers unfold to reveal more questions than answers and a puzzle that may or may not have a solution (or better yet, many, yet not one that will satisfy all, which is the secret to the stories that stand the test of time) and as never before (as it should be as life progresses and perspectives grow and each new moment should expand on all that came before to become a first, anew), all the world is a stage and we, players, writers, and directors each playing each role in different measures at different times...

but seriously, will this be how history remembers gw bush?...

and to that i will only say... holy moses, if ever we needed a burning bush...

i lied, i'll say one more thing... may history record this as a time when a bush burned a whole lot more than a couple of stone tablets...

and may humans finally learn from that mistake...

where were we?... ah yes, so sad that humans... i was referring to work, actually, and the politics and power trips that people play out of their own insecurity and weaknesses... the undermining is rampant... from silence at meetings to subtle queries that leave doubts and unfinished thoughts full of suspicion, innuendo of incompetence, or at least confusion in the air... to sudden and direct confrontations that seem out of left field and pull a rug out from under someone who is doing well, or at least making an effort to... and it is my job to improve things and eliminate risks (and dysfunction is a hornet's nest of risks)... my lot in life, i suppose, always on the outside trying to find a way in to help make things better...

and not even political satire can save me from my appointed rounds, aye?...

so the evil threat of communism that mired so many in the country known as vietnam and the east asian cultures we westerners call oriental (and foreign) for so long is now replaced by the evil threat of terrorism that mires so many in the country known as iraq and east-asian cultures we westerners call middle eastern or arabian (and foreign)... if only there was time to find the words that would open every mind to the reality humans live daily and through history, but it's time to shower and go to work now...

make today a different day, smile and mean it, and love one new person...

imagine if we all did that every day :)
