somewhere around 6:15pm, Precious was knocking at my door... and knocking... and knocking... I don't know precisely how long she was knocking, because just like the phone the night before (or was that the night before that?), it did not wake me immediately and I recall hearing the noise somewhere in the distance as if it was a dream and then I heard it a little while longer before I actually realized it was not a dream and the real world was calling, or in this case, knocking... it was time for the second Fantasy Basketball draft... I'll post an entry with draft results from all three leagues next week as Sunday is the third draft... anyway, 6:30pm the draft started (with the usual Donato's pizza) and I groggily clicked and picked... I think I did ok for sleep-drafting... immediately after the draft, the after-draft talk started... how'd we do... did you hear about this player... or that player... reading up... jabber jabber... and then I listened to Rasputin tell me about his job for a while... somewhere around 8pm, he went to bed and Precious started telling me about her day... they didn't seem to mind my zombie-like state, probably because I was able to keep my eyes open and occasionally grunt in some manner that was an acceptable response... timing is everything in grunt-speak... suddenly I feel like a housewife again... I actually love the role and have played it in real life, but the part I loved most was the parenting part... I do not love cleaning... unfortunately, here in the current casa de candoor, the perks of sleep-comforts and pleasures and cuddles and affections and intimacies and shared moments are missing, but hey, you can't have everything (even if you think you can and appear to), at least not too often... Precious is reading from Fools by Neil Simon at the moment... favorite lines pop up at random from her smiling face... she's never heard of Felix and Oscar... you know, The Odd Couple... I am suddenly feeling much older than I was a minute ago... oh no, an old sexless housewife, I'm an old maid (Precious thinks that's a card game)... stop laughing... ok, don't stop... be amused, be very amused... anyway, I gave in and stopped writing to give her some feedback... so now it's 10pm and I'll catch up on the evening... as she was reading from Fools and it related to Kahlil Gibran's Madhouse so I did a search for it (and was surprised and disappointed that my site was listed second (this page) cuz I'd have hoped that Gibran had more exposure online)... and then we discussed some of the lines she was reading and what else Neil Simon has written and that lead to talking about theatre (since the book was assigned reading for her drama class) and that lead to her wish to see a Broadway show which lead to what's playing on Broadway right now and what the longest running shows have been over the years... you wanna know?... ok

and then she turned on the TV and found Bravo showing The 100 Scariest Movie Moments and then switched to watch her usual Friday night show, Medical Investigation (she is interested in studying forensic science), so naturally my browsings lead there... and as I write this, she puts on Mulan (again... it's the DVD of the week) and of course is watching me as much as the DVD to see my reaction... cute... I suppose she is helping me by forgetting that I started watching Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis (yes, my beloved Sci-Fi channel) on Friday nights when this TV season started... if she didn't boggart the living room TV, I'd probably be watching more TV and feeling even more like a vegetable and writing less and exercising less and doing everything else in life less... so life around here is doesn't have much actual active life in it, just mostly spectating and the usual... a visual gander at the space lets me notice that the kitchen is a pig sty again, dried drips of tomato sauce and meat grease and crumbs everywhere... I really don't understand how people do this to themselves... I explained to Precious, again, the dangers of bacteria growth and so on... now she's got a cold (not the first one since moving down here six months ago), but she doesn't seem to make the connection to her living habits... I love her, but some moments (like this one) I find little sympathy for anyone who brings on their own misfortune... so she doesn't exercise, soils her own living space, neglects her body, eats more pizza, drinks more Pepsi, and then takes pills like her dad instead of changing her habits... the American way... not much more I can do right now so it's time to step back again for tonight and let nature take it's course... the good news is I don't like it and am finding more motivation growing in myself again to reduce my own clutter (internally, physically, and externally)... being a pack-rat is not as much fun as it used to be... especially not in this space... and without someone to share the stuff... I am remembering that material things, for me, gain almost all of their meaning through sharing... even alone, a thing is only of value to me if it reminds me of someone, an experience of sharing... like before the TV went on tonight... it may have been just sharing work and school information and it was all one way cuz I didn't have much to say, but it was better than nothing... I think... ah, there's the giggle sneaking back... so on this note I'll bounce on out of here...
