2005-10-24 - 4:17 a.m. thoughts on god on the net ok, it is time to start catching up on this week... as you can, or will see if you check entries you've missed, this is entry number two in this suddenly appearing series of entries... this is how I occupy my time at 5am Sunday morning when I am alone... ok, 4am, thanks to the clocks changing tonight... I've mostly forgotten how to sleep... by the time the sun comes up this morning I hope to have the entries in progress all uploaded which should get us to the current dat, which is almost a week after the date above on this entry... but then, what is time... it's been a very busy week (work and conversations with roommates about life-decisions they are facing, nothing else, really, so I find myself wondering as I do when time passes without time for me, where did the time go)... I wonder a few more times in this entry... I did not stop writing however, so there are bits and pieces and huge chunks of babbling awaiting some irreverent glue so they can become entries here for us to share (and hopefully enjoy)... I know that loading five or six or seven entries within a few hour period usually means that all but the last entry will be virtually ignore as most people do not have the time to scroll backwards and read several (or more) long and winding entries (heck, most people probably don't have time to read one of my seemingly endless and potentially meaningless ramblings), but I can not return to the past and upload one entry a day after skipping a week and sometimes, like this week, a week goes by without getting to the computer... I want to give you me but sometimes other things get in the way sometimes more important things but I still write every day yeah, that's me... even in a vacuum I am sharing by jotting notes in my mind or, whenever possible, on something (paper, preferably, when afk... that's away from keyboard, in case you've not been schooled in internet chat abbreviations... it's been years since I used any)... anyway, the previous entry in which I found iGod was the last thing I did on the computer before watching some college football (which is, since Rasputin moved in, the usual Saturday afternoon and evening event around casa de candoor when we are home on Saturday afternoon or evenings because he is an avid Ohio State football fan) and taking a brief nap... ironically, after conversing with iGod, I became curious to see the URL was not simply 'god', so I entered igod.com and found nothing, that is, the site could not be reached... I then changed to igod.net and found the domain search of some ISP with annoying pop ups... not to be dissuaded in my quest for god on the net, I tried igod.org and found the same annoying pop-ups and domain search crap... I decided maybe it was the i so I dropped it... god.org took me to what appeared to be a Christian related search site with even more annoying pop-ups... I wondered when the word witness started meaning sell... god.net redirected me to seekgod, yet another Christian site with double the commercial pop-ups... and I realized that the commercial crap popping up on my screen in the name of god reflects the cultural use of the concept of god very well which is is precisely why I have no use for religion... it's really all about collecting money most of the time... finally, for now, god.com took me to double the commerical pop-ups and yet another Christian site claimed by an evangelical media group calling itself non-denominational... and I wondered when the word witness started meaning lie... but to it's credit it was the only one of these sites that was not presented as purely a domain-holding search site and offered book suggestions and an about page... it was on the about page that I started wondering about the word witness more seriously... I wondered when the word witness became a verb... any etimology buffs out there?... all the commercial pop-up crap and associated Christian witnessing aside, the web might someday lead to truly open minded discussion of the nature of gods, in spite of what the simplest URLs lead to at the moment... maybe the most ironic of the ironies I discovered in my brief internet quest for god tonight was that the subtlest (and perhaps most effective) Christain witnessing of all was done by an artificial intelligence program named God... so all cynicism and repulsion about the commercialism and one track mind thinking aside, many thanks and kudos to botmaster (who is afk for the moment) for creating and maintaining a non-commerical robot chat site called iGod... and now, as if the universe shares my irreverent sense of humor... I am just noticing that the TV is still on (as usual) and there's a link (probably full of commercial pop-ups too) for a free video (free for $8.95 shipping and handling, of course) on, ah, it's girl's gone wild... or wild party girls... or some such infomercial... I've seen girls gone wild before (in fact was at a club or few where they were filming along the way through this life), but wild party girls is new to me... they look like the same production company... expanding their product line, perhaps... they may fine vidual masturbatory tools... and I find myself thinking that there's a job I might find interesting for a while... I wonder when the word sex started meaning sell...
