2004-10-06 - 5:44 a.m.

tonight I thought about kids fighting at school and making it on the evening news and other stuff...

I was watching the news for a moment and wonder if Chester, PA (maybe it was the date... and note that the PA link sucks because it tries to let a SPAM company download CRAP on to your computer without telling you and you can thank ABC and Disney for the covert invasion of your privacy, which really should be illegal, hear that congress?... thanks to Spybot for the help... everyone should have such a friend, but this parentheses is besides the point, which is even more serious) a sign of things (again, get Spybot before clicking on ABC-GO links) to come (again)... research the sixties if you don't know what I mean... history does repeat itself, and we've been complacent (as in the 50s) for almost as long as we were after WWII... the rebel yells coming from the younger generations have been mostly ignored by the powers that be...

and then there are the Presidential (and Vice Presidential) debates... sad... so very sad... neither will call each other liar when they are obviously lying, when they contradict what they say within the hour they speak... nobody asks the hard questions... how can we let the President wave the flag around the now cliche "weapons of mass destruction" without confronting the lie, his lie, that brought this cliche into our psyches?... how can he be allowed to continute to use scare tactics to distract us from thinking about the serious everyday issues that a government is supposed to address?... there is usually little substance to cliches, there is no substance to most of what the President says...

what if a plane crashed into a building in New York City or Los Angeles or Seattle or Miami or anywhere in this country during the debate... would the President, when an aid walks over and whispers the news that this country has suffered an appauling tragedy before we the people ever heard about it, would he continue smiling and until someone told him to stop and address the tragedy as President?... and if a second building was struck by a plane and again an advisor whispered in his ear that this country appears to be under attack through the air and thousands of Americans may be dying, would he continue to ignore the fact that he is President of this country and wait for someone to tell him what to do?... he reminds me of a dear caught in headlights, except he's not as cute...

on the other hand, Kerry has the typical grand plans for better life for the everyman that democrats usually have without actually addressing the usual biggest obstacle to those idealistic plans, where will the money come from... and he did not articulate the issues or solutions to issues any better than any other politician, so a vote for him is a vote for change, not actually a vote for a person who has real answers that explain how life will be better if he's elected...

I do like the fact that the Kerry commercials I've seen so far have the candidate talking directly to the camera about what matters to me while the Bush commercials I've seen so far have sound bites about Herry's record with mocking computer enhanced images of Kerry... this is consistent with the empty eye vacant expression I see whenever Bush looks at the camera... not that Kerry's look is much more confidence building in my mind, but then, I try not to judge based on images... or sound bites... or negative advertising...

I don't know who would be the best president of this country, but I do know that I do not trust anyone who fools people with scare tactics while he smiles as he takes my money and uses it to kill others in the name of god and lies... I do not trust someone who smiles as he tells me that freedom and the constitution is important but his religious rules are more important than the ideals and laws this country was founded upon and he wants to pass laws that make me have to follow his religious rules... tell me you are spilling our sons and daughters blood for freedom with one side of your mouth while telling me that you need to take away those freedoms from the other side of your mouth and expect me to believe you?...

the saddest thing is so many miss that point...

but this diary is not meant to be informative or socio-political or anything of the sort, this diary is for my daily babbling about daily life (in black and white), remember?... so never mind this entry, let's just click next and go on with the mundane and meaningful...

or something like that...
