2005-05-21 - 5:27 a.m. enter the festival it seems The Cure CDs, arriving along with and so shortly after The Virgin Prunes CDs, provide a most fascinatingly appropriate backdrop or foreground or at least, soundtrack, even commaless, even commentless, even... but before we exit, stage right and declare boldly heavens to mergatroid, perhaps the droids would have a thing or two to say... flash forward seven days and be in the here and now or else, stay and wander through the wounded landscape of yesterday where I can't find myself plays yet again because we are, truly, madly, deeply, still crazy after all these years... is the lyrical printing on CDs getting smaller or is it time for me to go Sherlock Holmes on your ass?... that would mean, and I might only explain it this once, except for all the times I may have explained it before, peering through a magnifying glass for a closer look, or, in other words, putting on glasses to enlarge the image for clarity... and in the end, even if the love we save is equal to the love we gave or vice versa and forgiving the possibility that the love we takie is equal to the love we make, the bottom line is focus and when and if we do, were we put it and for how long... here, now, are we... play it Cure... and then there was shopping... delayed a full day by misplaced utility bills that were not paid until the lights went out (and therefore put me to sleep rather than getting laundry finished and cleaning finished and so on and so forth and therein putting it off for the following day, which would have been today had I actually taken the time to maken the entry this is now becoming a week later, but you might never know had I never told you so), I sprung into action... our mission, Jim, had we decided to accept it, was to get ourselves out and about and up to the festival on time... instead, I rode the slow donkey and moved passed only the favored snails who take their time due to their pending royalty, or so the story goes... after turning up the gearbox to the cruise control level, household preparations concluded, finally, about two hours later than any sensible plan called for and then there was the shopping trip... being that everything I ever owned was either stolen by those I loved the most and trusted uncontionally, among other so-called-friends, or was placed in storage some ten years ago (120 months at $140 a month, sheesh, who'd have figured that would ever happen?), I had to buy the basic necessaities for camping and outdoor fun just in case there was to be camping and outdoor fun... all plans stayed much up in the air until the very last moment when sadly, I discovered I was trekking to the festival alone due to unpleasant abdominal conditions (sending much get well energy) which brought me back down to the planet, facts of life not withstanding, alone and on my own wandering out to find whatever there might be with as much hope as was left by all that has come before... somebody spook me, please... but did anyone ever understand?... the shopping done, packing, car loaded, it was off to the festival... an hour drive was hardly enough to get the feel of being on the road again, no less to turn the page, but following directions all by myself for an hour to a place I'd never been before was nonetheless stimulating and worth a recollection or few if and when the time-space continnum is bridged by a flesh and blood intimate again... and Harry was once again correct, excitement did continue to build... I arrived about two hours after the gates opened and there was hardly a soul in site... I learned later that, as I suspected might happen, the cancellation of camping kept many away (including musical acts)... so I brought out my nice new cushy chair and hung with the sound guys, J-Bird and Irene of J-Bird Productions, and listened to the first few bands of the first evening... suddenly there was a quick rain/wind storm and the canopy over the sound board flipped toward the stage and there I was between the flipping tent thing and the stage and sound systems, so I did what came naturally, I grabbed hold of one of the bars of the tent thing and hung on, hoping gravity and my body weight would keep it from continuing it's flip into the stage and people and expensive equiptment... success and fun prevailed... and so there we were, brought together by the wind and rain and potential danger and visceral excitement, making friends for all the world to see... I let the people know that I've got a lot to give and it felt great and hopefully, the people noticed... there is a schedule of bands somewhere on the SSA website if you are interested in the musical details... the music was great, the people were even better... and finally, after feeling good about sharing good feelings with strangers who were quickly becoming friends, the final band played the final notes for the night and I was invited to stay the night, which set the tone for the weekend because otherwise I'd have probably slept somewhere in my car and been a funky stinky hippie freak all weekend... instead, there was music all night with Rodney (who plays a mean guitar) and some others who straggled in at all hours of the night to make some sort of music or sounds... I wish I'd have brought the laptop because after everyone finally fell off into sleep there probably was a flood of words ready to pour out of me... I did not recored life this time, I just lived it (what a novel idea) and it was magnifiscent... you all should have been there J
