well one look at the time would tell anyone who knows my schedule (for what it's worth) that I am not going to be here long, especially if you have the insider information about the last time I showered and ate and such because then you know that this body (and social ediquette, ummm, that should have been atiquette, huh?... well, maybe... anyway...) could use a hosing down and food and if I want to get to work on time I have little time for rambling tonight...

I spent the evening, since waking and pouring some chocolate soy milk and water on my cereal, browsing DLand with Precious... yes, Precious is back home and in catching up with her summer she mentioned Diaryland and of course I had to show her around so I started to and the usual thing happened... I call it DLand drift...

see, I come here to do something, like write an entry or at least upload something I've written elsewhere... and then it happens... Dland drift... I click on a link in my notes or comments or guestbook for one of my diaries and I am sucked into the vortex... I read, I click on more links, I read more, I leave messages and click more and read more... pretty soon there are a dozen windows open to different Diaries on my desktop and I am clicking on 'create a shortcut' so I can keep the number of windows down to about a dozen so I can keep the computer from freezing up or worse and pretty soo there are columns of shortcuts on my desktop and still more windows behind windows waiting for me to stop the process and try to turn around...

turning around entails avoiding links and focusing on finding note links where I can comment on the diary therein giving me some sense of completion or reason for being there (maybe I'm just marking territory?) and then close it and repeat the process until there's just this one window open and I can return to whatever it is I sat down here to do in the first place...

unfortunately I don't even have to check my diaries or notes or comments and so on for this phenomenon (DLand drift) to happen... a banner can do it just as easily... and often I don't recall how I began or precisely where I've been or what I read or wrote, only that I have a whole lot of new streamers running through my head that are somehow connected to the new folder full of shortcuts on my computer and the evening has passed and I am sitting here trying to scramble for time and explain to myself why I did not write an entry or why I am feeling like I lost a few hours...

Precious said the same thing happened to her and she realized that at 5AM she had been browsing and reading all night...

scary, huh?...

well anyway, at least I didn't cheat and use comments or notes or emails stuff to fill an entry tonight... I mean, not that this entry is any better than yesterday's (and I didn't actually consider the reading value of the notes/comments I popped into yesterday's entry, they were chose for their potential information or insight into me since this diary is about me and I figure that might be why you came here)...

no, this entry is about something much more vital to our lives than any old information about me (or whining about life)... this entry is about the strange and sometimes wonderful phenomenon you yourself might experience now and then...

it's time to get wet now...
