2003-11-24 - 9:39 p.m. a day in the stenches as opposed to trenches, I suppose... many well wishes go out to a co-worker and fantasy basketball opponent (who tied me for first place today for the first time) and his family as I heard last night there was an accident involving a rolling SUV containing him and his family and some stiches and plastic surgery may be involved... it is not a pleasant thought and hopefully we'll be able to joke about it shortly... especially since this will be a good opportunity to get that nose fixed... survival technique #11, morbid humor.... maybe it is getting a little too real here to attract a large audience of devoted fans (is that really why I am here or is this yet banother in a long line of ironic teases intended to distract us from the deeper stuff that is buried in repetitive stupidity?... superficially, I avoid the answer with a giggle)... after all, who really runs home from work or school or the sandbox to read or watch the same old story about boring loneliness and foolish procrastination and deceptively hungry apathy and mildyly annoying self-destruction with a tinge of awareness sprinkled haphazardly here and there like some rare exotic spice or something?... now don't all jump up with raised arms shouting "I do, I do"... it is sometimes amazing to the aware part of my brain when a flash of obviousness slips into view to point out just how well I have forgotten how much will power I have, especially when it comes to taking care of life in this body... laziness and self-indulgence has dominated the my unconscious daily routines... and since the combination repulses me, I am not going to get too close to those who are in the same boat... pity-parties are only fun if you know deep down they are temporary irresponsible abhoritions of moronic negativity in an otherwise wise and positive life... I could write more about the troubled teens (what a turn of a phrase that cliche has become, huh?) and their daily (and nightly) tribulations (the drama is compelling at times... as addictive as any soap opera for those who indulge in such drugs) which might turn out a whole lot more interesting than the sameness of the nothingness of the actual daily life I claim to be mine these days, but then that might undermine the test of your patience this diary is turning out to be... start again... good morning, we'd like to offer you this fine piece of smoked trout... glass?... oh... now you may be expecting something completely different, but that is where you may be fooled into believing something and we all know where that could lead (spongebob stainedpants?)... it is time to head out the door to work again, to the foolishly managed insane asylum called the world out there and the politically selfish organizations and momentarily expedient systems that people create in their haste to try to look good... it all works out for the best if the best is not scrutinized too closely... meanwhile, the few who really care are swamped with requests for miracles and usually drowning in tears or some more effective poisons... be careful what you consume, for you become it... Sally cleaned the kitchen this morning... that doesn't happen too often, so it is reason to take notice... it was the roach that came out preciselt when he returned from work (I wonder if it came in with him as it I have seen so few bugs in this places since moving in almost two years ago and there has been a distinct increase since Sally arrived)... of course it is more likely the fact that the weather is turning cooler and the place is not nearly as clean as it was when Sam lived here... I griped about the roach and the dire need for a vacuum cleaner and keeping the place cleaner and suddenly Sally was doing the dishes and wiping the kitchen counters... we need to call the office about the broken dishwasher too... and about my own laziness... huh?... I spent three hours debugging Sally's computer this morning... it as attacked by yet another hijacker... apparently Spybot and Norton stood by helplessly as our dear Rasputin clicked and opened a malicious email attachment... after more than two hours of trying all the safer routes (clicking "fix" buttons in windows, uninstalling and re-installing programs, and so on) I finally hacked into the registry and found the problem... yes, I risked a complete meltdown and re-boot of the computer and came out victorious... somehow the bug removed a few tabs from the Internet Options box so the defauly home page for the browser was locked into some search site and then the connection kept looking for a proxy server (or some such complicated techno-nonsense that I will not explain further at the risk of losing the one loyal reader I may actually have out there)... it felt good to slip into the registry and make it do my bidding... almost orgasmic, but not quite... and therein we have a fine representation of the state of my love life when the Windows registry can be associated with low riding pants that clever fingers might slip into for a secret rendevous with an unsuspecting, but very welcomng genital area... suddenly I am looking at this keyboard from a different angle... the cocked-headed puppy expression might not work here... how is that girl on Dead Like Me (or was it Dead Like Us... alas, fleeting memories), anyway?... luckily, it is time to rush out the door so we will not be taking the walk down libido lane again tonight... yes of course, it might be a bit of ironic humor to conclude this entry with the tired old cliche, we really do need to get out more, but as a test of our veracity I think I'll offer up we really need to get in more and continue giggling liberally (if not a bit fanatically)... g'nite my loves, real and otherwise...
