2005-12-14 - 8:45 a.m. cultural references video warning: if you are at work, click away now and come back when no one is around... very shortly (if not already) you'll hear and see a very irreverent video that may or may not have anything to do with this entry, but obviously impressed me enough to be the first such video of any sort I included in my diary... I think... anyway, I really did not mean to leave the previous entry up all day, but I passed out in the chair and crawled into bed before I could continue uploading the entries that lead us back to RealTime... anyway, we have a few more entries to go before we are back to the same day same write same upload entry again, so i'll continue to pull stuff out of the babbling files for your amusement... by now you might be hearing music... and seeing the video... if you're at work, hopefully your employers have a sense of humor... Camel Toe
I just keep hearing the Beach Boys playing innocently and seeing scenes on the California Beaches where everybody pretends nonchalantly that they don't notice the fact that bikini bottoms are barely visible and the Monty Python crowd in my head finds the blatant candor in the song lyric hysterical... even if it is repetitive (ever the critic, huh?... well, I do know repetition as an art form)... of course it could be a public service announcement for all you girls who like to wear your clothes a tad on the tight side... after all, even a an apparent pervert might be misunderstood and actually can have a social conscience... and since I'm going all audio-visual on you, the following linked bit has already received 10 million unique hits, so maybe you've already found it... it is is loud and painfully funny, so don't play it at work and if you've just been dumped or otherwise had your heart broken, turn your sense of humor up real high or wait a while if you've misplaced it (your sense of humor)... with that warning, I now present Bob Ricci's She Blocked Me... I used to know a Bob Ricci, in fact, we practically lived together in high school and his brother and I were as close as brothers for years... if you remember the 11/15 entry, one of the birthdays referred to belong to Rob's brother... I wonder if this guy could be any relation (I emailed and asked)... in any case, he seems to be following the lead of Weird Al Yankovic and Ray whats-his-name and belongs on Dr. Demento's next compilation... and now, for no apparent reason... alright, move along, nothing to see here... I shall provide you now with a few images and opinionations that will hopefully give you some more insight into my personality and character (which I am one)... I really like how this girl is a picture of a thousand words... on the other hand, I think this image is rather gross... when I think about the future of the human race, or fashion, I sometimes see something like this or this or this and I realize (and remember) that it can get real scary out there... onword, or onward, as the case may be, through my life in black and white, I found Lennon Murphy, read a lyric, saw Harry Chapin listed on her favorites on her official site, and there went my impulse shopping gene... I could swear I let the budget director out of the closet and yet he was nowhere to be found as I clicked and filled in information and clicked and filled in more info and got up to get my credit card and click click click and three CDs are on their way to my PO box... obviously it is a cry for help, somebody save me... or at least laugh at me with me as I feign drowning in my own impulsivity induced poverty... for the record, we just flashed forward to RealTime for a moment to report on that purchase and while here, did I mention that earlier tonight I took Precious, Rasputin, and Precious's best friend (who happens to be adorable and I'll stop there cuz I'm a mature adult person no matter how irreverently perverse I might get in my babblings just to keep us amused and titilate) to dinner?... I didn't plan it... in fact, I planned on eating my leftover eggplant rolatini pizza tonight... but the adorable best friend invited us all out to dinner because Precious is leaving about 4am tonight for the cold north for the holidays with the other side of her family and she'll be gone for almost two weeks (she's not just adorable, she's sweet, sentimental, and very considerate)... to be expected, Precious's former best friend, who's a spoiled and selfish child (in the immature sense), decided it was inconvenient for her so she didn't show (she's also lazy and avoids situations where she's not the center of attention)... this disappointed the adorable friend because she's sweet and sentimental (she made a collage of pictures of the three of them with "Friends Always" on a giant posterboard as a present for Precious and gave it to her tonight)... I think I just decided to name adorable friend Dreamer, in the John Lennon's Imagine vien, which is high praise if you know me... ok, so Dreamer, who I discovered loves Rilo Kiley, which endears her to me all the more because she's a genius, obviously, invited us all out for a farewell dinner and because Rasputin paid for movies and dinner last time (we ate at Baja Burrito for $5 each), I pulled out my credit card this time... I really must get around to winning a lottery or something... maybe I should try bank robbing... anyway, T.G.I.Friday's was happy to get my $80 something dollars... I remembered something I don't like about T.G.I.Fridays... in the various T.G.I.Friday's I've eaten, I've noticed that ordering something extra seldom works... they skimp on extras and still charge an upcharge, which is why I seldom eat in the place (it's been well over a year)... but the food was good and the company was fun and so what if I didn't get the extras I asked for... the waitress didn't get the tip she could have gotten (which is usually at least 20% if I like the service... she still got $10 because I am too generous, but she would have gotten closer to twenty had she been more attentive and more clever with the people in the kitchen)... and then, still in real time, mind you, I am still home... I called work and told them I was taking the night off to recooperate so I am here rambling on instead of rambling on at work and getting paid for it... what can I say, there is no ideal world, just ideal intentions (and I'll tip toe away with a grin as if I said something clever now)... I had the Sunday football on as usual today and somewhere along the way I found the beady-eyed President patting himself on the back for the fine job he did in taking responsibility for all this and that and the obvious propaganda crap I was hearing made me so think of the days when Russian leaders got on TV to explain why they invaded Hungary or Czechoslavakia or any number of countries who just could not make it without Russian tanks riding down their main streets... of course he invoked his religion... now we are the land of hypocrisy ambivalence and apathy and I am fitting in woe is me before I get too pathetic, I'll turn up the dial on my cynicism and find in my ever industrious brain that having been reminded about Rilo Kiley, the phrase any chimp can play human for a day... instantly came to mind... if you know the song, you know what I mean... are we so pathetic that we actually enjoy being lied to and have our ethics and morals corrupted by the very leaders we entrust to protect them?... but then along comes blue meany, a beautiful example of a dedicated person trying to do the right thing and caught up in world affairs and torn away from her home life... I've got a lot of respect for her, not just because she's in Iraq, but because she's got an art for clarity even in the midst of confusion and unfairness... and this week she is posting pictures of Iraqi kids and others on election day... the images appear to show people happy with the democratic process... the kids seem to love the camera as most kids do... even my mixed feelings about the ethics of military actions can find reason to smile to see faces smiling back at Amercians in uniforms... that's one reason I like blue meany, she gives a personal feel to all the polished political rhetoric and propaganda we get through official sources... meanwhile, in other outrageous and even scary news... lately I've been wondering more and more seriously if human enlightenment is actually going backwards... ignore the pain we're all so lazy in the fast lane the truth is hazy at mankind's twain oh say can you see as we slowly go insane blame the weak for their weakness forgive the abuser excuse the user condemn the one who speaks the truth suspect the accuser praise the confuser exploit the innocence of youth and make beauty a commodity that can be bought and sold that will remove it's power and give it to the old money changers and merchants put a price on our soul we're so helpless to stop it we go out of control it's all so crazy ignore the pain we're all so lazy in the fast lane the truth is hazy at mankind's twain oh say can you see as we slowly go insane don't question authority no matter what they do to you that is their perogative let them to their jobs their job is to protect you from your own awareness don't believe your own eyes there is no sense in fairness and make duty a commodity that can be bought or sold that will bestow it power to do as you are told politicians and preachers put a price on our lives we're condemned if we stop it so no free thought survives it's all so crazy ignore the pain we're all so lazy in the fast lane the truth is hazy at mankind's twain oh say can you see as we slowly go insane
