concert shorts (?)

well that was a bit of rough rain, or perhaps we'd better call it abrasive ass, which is more accurate... after all, we all need to show a little ass now and then... it's those who show big ass that make it nasty for the rest of us... what a waste, big ass... puts out so much waste and gas and takes up so much space and produces nothing but evidence that we consume way more than we need and therein milk the planet dry... humanity sucks the life out of the planet like ants carving their way through the sand... until the sand collapses on and around them and the few who survive start over...

but we were droning on about the poverty of sensuality and creativity and courage and awareness and caring and bonding and sharing at concerts around here so let's get back to that...

there was a time strangers became friends on the concert floor... friends and lovers as well... connections were made... people went to feel the music, share the experience, and expand their horizons... I suppose the drugs helped lower inhibitions and break down walls, but I never found the necessary and there were others... play, not use, that was the way...

but these days...

you live inside your head
you die before you're dead
you heard the words I said
it doesn't matter

you are afraid to feel
you do not know what's real
so every time you kneel
it doesn't matter

even in a crowd you are alone
life's a symphony yet you're a monotone
you isolate yourself, you call it in the zone
and waste the time you could have been sharing
all because you are afraid of caring

you fear death so much
you're too afraid to live
irony and alibi
so you live like you can't wait to die

well, not you, of course... meanwhile, back to the original entry that gave birth to these two entries (no worries, there's not much left)...

all this complaining and griping and whining and crappy perspective on a Saturday night?... we'll have to query into why (as if I don't know... and there's the secret smile and half a smirk and true wonderfully wonder-filled aspect of the methods to my madness for the rhyming fool is bubbling over and there just may be a few hours of energy and free time left in this night (especially with a Code Red beside me)... so the giggling child comes out to save the day even if you won't see that here because, after all, this is not the place for babble (and laughing as I see how much babble appears here, I realize that is the perfect ironic subtitle for this blog {of course I was referring to the RealTime blog cuz the place for babble would be the ideal subtitle for life in black and white behind the candoor if that wasn't too long so was broken into a title and subtitle already}... someday, if I ever find time to re-do the layout... meanwhile, I'm off to ramble and rhyme I think {which would mean I was on my way here, or at least to the babble files, or scribble files, or somewhere like that, or this}... or, as they cavalier anti-hero would say in old black and white movies, see you in the funny papers)...

what?... did you hear that?... well, did you read that?... resorting to sixty or seventy or eighty year old shtick?... yeah, well you know me, I'll do my best to get a rise out of you... I'll be too childish if you are too stuffy... I'll be too old if you are a youth snob... I'll be too vulgar if you're too prim and prissy... I'll be too pure and innocent if you're too cynical or crude... I'll be too insecure if you're too cool... I'll be too gay if you're too much a homophobe... I'll be too black if you're too KKK... I'll be too white if you're too gangsta... anything to please your hunger for controversy and conflict.... when I want your attention, that is...

maybe I should just go on with the concert babble...

and so, in conclusion I step back to see the bigger picture and close realizing that in spite of the drawbacks and fact that it could have been much better, it was a great night, after all J

well that was a bit of an anticlimactic ending, wasn't it?... well, just for that, I'll slip another bit of concert babble from another night in here as if it belonged and you'd hardly notice the segue... but first, a moment of serious contemplation (and I'll be too serious when you are too frivolous and too irreverent when you are too serious and)...

growing pains, yeah... now that I've checked out most of the concert venues in this town, the House of Blues is definitely my favorite mid-to-large venue and The Social is my favorite small venue... they know how to handle crowds and how to let a crowd enjoy itself much better than any other venue in town... moving along to another night and another concert entry now (actually the night before... it was a wild weekend and these were just two of the five in a row nights out)...

another night, another concert, and the fun continues... it is, for the record, 6AM (Saturday) in RealTime (so this probably was written before the previous entry, unless the previous entry was written like a week before, but we're not going to fret over time here behind the candoor, are we?... naaaa, it's relative, after all... so out dang parentheses and continue with the rambling) but, as I've been known to do, I'll date stamp this entry for just before midnight because there was no time for an entry Friday... even though I left work early... I didn't go straight home though... backtracking to earlier in the day (dee-do-do-do-dee-do-do-do, you know, the Wayne's World dream sequence flashback segue)...

I woke and showered and headed to work where it was mostly training and taking a few calls in the morning, then lunch... it was around then I got a text from Precious who was having a rant moment... not a good day... so when I left work early, instead of going home, I texted her a few times and then and asked if she wanted Jeremiah's (that's like asking a fish if they want water)... so I drove over and her and Dreamer met me there and I gave her ice cream money and it seemed to help a bit and then I took Chinese food home and ate it and squeezed in a bit of reading (and was inspired to write a few comments) before heading out to the concert... I arrived later than usual and was more tired than usual so I didn't work my way up to the front until the middle of the second band, satisfied to watch the first from the side... and then it was home and Precious got home and explained her day until 3:30am and then I started typing and feel asleep and woke and here we are...

so back to the concert... with each concert (especially by myself) I'm remembering all the tricks of the trade for maneuvering through a crowd and negotiating a mosh pit to get to the front center of the floor crowd... and with eye contact with the bouncers I am catching the crowd surfers before they land on me or kick me in the head (or anybody else) and tossing them over the few people I let in front of me (smaller girls squirm up for a while, then ask to be boosted up and out of the crowd cuz it gets too hard to breath)...

Dave Melillo (local and one of Precious's favorites, mostly cuz he's cute and local and her age) opened and did his usual fun set... he was followed by Cute Is What We Aim For who was another I've seen a couple of times in the last few months and they were up to their usual version of cuteness... then came Reggie and the Full Effect and by then I was up front with people being passed overhead and no air between bodies and the bouncing got into high gear and Reggie was actually called out for an encore (rare for anyone but the headliner)... HelloGoodbye was subdued compared to Reggie, cleaner language between songs (Reggie likes to ramble) even encouraging the crowd to be careful and ease up on surfing, but they did well and the crowd loved them and they came out for a three song encore...

after the show, I bumped into Reggie at the bar and got him to sign a ticket for Precious which was received very well when she got home... and that was Friday... now it's time for some sleep because I did break down and buy the ticket for the Dashboard Confessional and Brand New concert tonight and I'd like to have more energy than I did tonight as the crowd will be much bigger at the arena...

brief and to the point?... I dunno, I think I fell asleep again J

and there's the way to dull an exciting time, aye?... well, it just shows to go ya... I think I'll put on some Meg and Dia now and reminisce about the fantasies I never had...
