2004-08-07 - 2:12 p.m.

my computer has MS

I think what amazes me most about the Democrats (is what is a crat and when are we going to get the real product instead of the demo, but that's a side point) is how, no matter how tight the Republican candidate's smile might get, they always seem to be able to find a candidate with an even tighter smile... uptight?... insecure?... well, beauty and relevance and most everything else visual is in the eyes of the beholders, ya know...

anyway, I finally remembered to check out the parody (take care, it's a 3.7MB file) of Woody Guthrie's classic feel-good folk song This Land is Your Land (thank's to Randy at Randy's Life, or is that Randy's randy Life?... well, he knows and we'll just keep guessing and that's the way he likes it, uh-huh... I am always saving images and finding amusing links there), but wouldn't you know I attempted it on the laptop at dial-up speeds and MS has yet another error report from this laptop as something went wrong and IE had to shut down, stiffling my creativity and curtailing today's adventure in cyberspace barely before it began... it got seriously bad an almost cut this entry off, but I was somehow able to continue rambling while the computer and MS did their things in the background and I was able to provide you with the usual stuffing of uber links in this would-have-been-much-shorter paragraph about somewhat related stuff if you have an open, ecclectic, and rather multitracked mind and now we're almost back in business except for the fact that I won't actually be watching all of the SWF parody just now on this laptop so I can only say it sounded amusing and started off silly enough for me to want to see the rest so I thank Atom Films and the JibJab for their talents... Herman Munster, indeed...

something I do not do often enough and really should because it's the source (or the means to the source, at least) of most of the excessive linkaging you either ignore or enjoy here at casa de candoor and what I mean is, thanks to the best search engine for my bucks (free, I mean), IXQuick... simple, fast, effective, and minimal advertising distractions and now that I've told you all, it'll probably get bombarded with new users and turn into a sluggish bohemeth link all the others (assuming I have so many hundreds of thousands of readers, I suppose... what an ego trip, huh?)... seriously, the best search engine around... I'd rank dogpile a distant second... and now that you know, I'll continue getting back to the entry I had started before my computer got MS (shouldn't there be a telethon trying to raise money to cure... oh ok, if you didn't get it by now, never mind)...

speaking of search engines, I do not knock the google, which may more deservedly be second instead of the dogpile, especially since I found it first many years ago when it was unknown and clever and fun, and it can still do this:

1. go to Google
2. type in "weapons of mass destruction"
3. click on the "I Feel Lucky" button
4. read carefully.
and it did swallow up the once boldly independent area of newsgroups where I sorta lived while I was homeless for a while in the nineties and it also has lots of other useful services (it swallows well) and maybe it is the most versitile search site offering the most possibilities and should definitely be included in any serious searching which is why it was added to my original search page when it first came out, but I still prefer my old friend
ixquick Metasearch

I think we should all support a product that is free and works well and thank the creative producers and let me know if you find an OS that deserves praise... and if you have not got the dig in the title of this entry yet, your computer probably has MS too...

whatever this entry was meant to be (or going to be) about may have been lost in the browsing and MS seizures and I now have a day to get lost in, so I shall leave you with the following thought for your personal ponderosing (if Adam lived, would he have been more popular than Little Joe?... no, that wasn't it), is it better to connect your older page link or your current page link when deciding what to connect to your banner ad here at DLand... this ponder may be the inkling of considering creating some banners for me, since I now have two paid for Diaries here at Dland (yes, in a moment of rather classic impulsiveness (or is that impulsivity?), I cashed in some madness coupons and paypalled my way into being able to do more with this casa de candoor... I didn't go super, so I won't be giving you the opportunity to ignore a comments link here (my experience with the absence of comments at candora {or candora, even} leaves me wondering if comments to individual entries are not worth paying for since I rarely got any... but I could always hope it would be different here at this casa than it was at that casa since there was mostly mushy lyrical rhymes that might be more challenging to comment on specifically but here we have all sorts of odd ideas that scream out for some sort of debate or rebate or at least correction... of course I can still hope for praise and affection and cheerful adoration, right?), at least not today... maybe tomorrow I'll throw another $24 bucks into Andrew's pockets and risk the silent rejection of a comments link here... for now, thanks for the notes and emails and surprises in the mail (yay)...

hope you enjoy your day too...

you know that box to the right on the dland entry page called recent public entries?... what do the asterisks mean?... and the bold?...
