at least I think I left off on the 18th... there are probably missing pages from before the 18th and someday I might find time to look back (if there is an eternity for the babbler, I surely will) and while Rasputin sits zoned into the TV ignoring any conversation except his own and Precious sits half watching TV and half looking over at me for attention every time I pause in key-pressing for a moment to read or reflect (at which time the babbler is most vulnerable to distraction), I shall endeavor to continue the process of babbling in spite of the lack of a babbling conducive environment or fellow babblers around...

the nature of a babbler...

there are two main types of babblers, actually... there is the verbal babbler who babbles verbally (yes, I know, labels are obvious... that's why they are called labels, but that's besides the point)...

there are a few sub-types of verbal babblers...

the hermit babbler babbles anywhere, anytime, and doesn't much care if anybody is listening even if they appear to be talking to someone or a group...

the narcissist is babbling only to hear their own voice and is not interested much in what others say unless the others say something directly related to their babble or something complimentary...

the needy babbler babbles to anyone who might listen and practically begs for attention and feedback and reassurance that they exist and are worth something...

the categorical babbler (which I could be emulating at the moment) leans toward OCD tendencies as they attempt to explain things and put structure to everything as they babble (frequently the CB can be found babbling as they do household chores...

there are others, but those are the primary sub-types of verbal babblers that come to mind as I ramble on about babbling and babblers today...

the second main kind of babbler is the literary, writer, or writing babbler... and again there are subtypes and the four subtypes above are found in writing babblers as well...

the blind babbler is more often seen in the writing babbler (unless we count the guys who stand on street corners preaching to no one in particular as blind babblers), especially in an environment that has a lot of distractions and anti-babbling elements (like the one I am in most of the time at work and at home)...

I can be a blind babbler (and must strive to be one often if I am to continue babbling) a bit each day as I have since I first put crayon to paper and someday, to step into an aside for a moment, I hope to return to the beginning and rediscover and re-experience the first steps, roots, and reasons I started babbling one day and even more, share those first steps with someone who understands and appreciates the ways of a babbler as much as I do and ideally, with someone who shares the mutual falling in love experience, but you probably know where that dream path goes if you've been around a while {and if you haven't, just take a wake through the writing I do in my dreams at candora for starters)...

sometimes I can babble in a hurricane of distractions and other times I am constantly pausing... usually the latter is when I am with people I care about who are doing things to hurt themselves (like my roommates constant Pepsi addiction or the frequent complaining I used to hear from work friends on the night shift) or when I am subconsciously facing the things I am not satisfied with in myself or my life (like the constant mess in the living environment or the lethargy that's lead to a tired and lazy body or the loneliness that is facilitated by both)...

today I seem to be in a babbling mood that is close to blind babbling, yet I am observing and responding to my environment so it is more of a combination of babbling types, kinds, or methods I am being and using (and I'm doing laundry)...

if you are fascinated by an entry like this, you may be a babbler or at least a babble-lover (we'll explore the different kinds of listeners and readers some other time, but babble-lovers are probably the largest fan base a babbler can attract and many of you are probably better lovers even if you never thought of it before)... a few of you may be here just tolerating the babble and wishing I'd get to the point or share something personal because you care about me (or if you happen to be a certain person in Toronto, maybe cuz you are morbidly curious or waiting for a personal nudge just like this one for your own psychological reasons... I love you, even if you won't let me know I am letting you know)...

so without much thinking about it and with no prior planning, we have a chapter or at least an outline, maybe for several chapters in The Book of Babble (note, The Book Of Babble��� idea, notes, outline, text, method, process, product, film, TV productions, audio recordings, and all merchandise based on the idea or anything related to The Book Of Babble��� is copy written, trademarked, registered, and all sorts of legally protected so credit this particular babbler if you even think of mentioning it anywhere and if you make money off it, let me know and we'll decide on a fair distribution that will insure you get more than 50% of any profits or the courts will just step in and take it all away)...

most of the time I'll just smile and accept whatever little gift you might like to send my way, like a CD you burned (always a favorite gift for me) or something that means something to you... I'm not greedy, I mostly just wanna know you connected with my idea and built something with or upon it... so much for the legal mumble jumble, aye?...

perhaps, in future entries, we'll explore the rest of The Book Of Babble��� and all the mazes, literary and otherwise, contained therein (though nothing can actually contain the babble, it's just a figure of speech, a turn of a phrase, a clich�, even, for the record and all)...
