2005-07-31 - 11:37 p.m. august dreams preramble: due to unfortunate glitches or some gremlins or other unexplainable things going on in the bowels of this laptop computer, this entry had to be re-written three times (so far)... I am hoping it's not some sort of virus or worm or bug or (eeek) the final gasps of this very old laptop... shhhh, let's hope for the best... anyway, this re-writing definitely takes the luster off the original version and I apologize profusely for the grumbling underneath that has nothing to do with the otherwise happy entry I tried to share... hopefully some of the happy-happy-joy-joy still comes through... ramble: and so the day before yesterday I gave you some reasons I love the net in the form of people who write words that send shivers through me and inspire me to feel (wonderful thing, feeling)... and yesterday I slipped into my memory to pay tribute to one of the people I knew in this life (in the flesh) who meant the most to me... and today, well, who knows where today will lead... most of you know how I love the coincidences and syncronicities of language and everything... so here it is, the day before August and I spent the day with the one and only augustdreams... yes, Ms. August Dreams and the Candoor finally got together on the day before the month of August... of course august doesn't necessarily have to be a month... it could mean something else... august, for instance, but the linguistic connection still gets my smile... great start (for me at least)... the girl is even more fun in person than she is online... and she's cool... alas, but before we get on with our story, our dear Ms Dreams has not had a good day, what with losing a family member and having a dream put on hold and a relationship in limbo, so everybody (yes you, dear readers, cuz I know you are caring people) should go over there and give her a hug in a note or comment right now (or whenever you're reading)... go ahead, I can wait... . . . . . . . . . welcome back... now don't you feel good about yourself for giving a hug and positive word to a beautiful person?... you did go leave that note or comment, right?... hope so... the good news is that our dear Ms. Dreams is one of the most resilient and positive people you can meet, so I'm confident she'll not only survive, but she'll continue enjoying life, giving her strength and positivity to her friends, and make the best of whatever is to come... she survived a day with me, after all... I mean, the candoor man (who still thinks he's a little boy) is not completely impossible to put up with, but he does have his strangeness and generally requires a rather open minded high-tolerance for change and impulsiveness and weirdness kind of a person to hang with... and he likes to drive like he's on a roller coaster... he is less apt to treat a car like a go-cart when a passenger is riding along, but he does love to drive and feel the forces at work (you know, gravity and torque and Gs and all... he likes to know the force is with him)... so first off, she didn't freak out in the car (at least she didn't pass out)... even when we realized that the car was running on fumes and we were miles from nowhere in a can't-see-your-hand-in-front-of-your-face thunderstorm... no worries, we made it to a gas station (it just wouldn't have been right to get stuck out in the boonies in a T-storm on a first meeting, right?)... and we realized that both love storms... we were out in the boonies (past Bithlo, where manufactured homes {once called trailers} and farm stuff abound and rednecking is an art form) in a little town called Christmas that is, oddly enough, at least two streets big and open all year 'round)... the post office gets real busy in December... anyway, we were going to check out a place descovered recently that has wild animal shows, but they were closing up by the time we got there... we saw a couple of bears and some birds, one of whom said hello (the birds)... the bears came over hoping we had food, but wandered off when they only got smiley happy greetings... they looked kind of cooped up, unfortunately... don't worry, we didn't raid the place to free the bears... yet... plans changed a lot and all was good cuz the company was good... and August (see, we're on a first name basis now) seemed to be having a good time... even when I exposed my restaurant habits... see, the candoor taste buds like variety... so any restaurant tends to turn into a buffet when candoor shows up... it's done by ordering a variety of things and stretching the limits of the house on substituting items in their regular menu dishes... servers love me... actually, the waitress was good and friendly and got our orders right too... we ate a variety of fishy things (no, not because of my odd ordering, we were at Red Lobster) and had lots to take home after we felt stuffed... good thing the rain cleared up (as is the usual pattern for summer weather down here... afternoon T-storms, clear evenings) so we could walk off the meal a bit... after dropping the food at the casa de candoor fridge (yes, that place... no wonder she said I can keep it all), the most marvelous thing happened... August spotted a huge and beautiful moth-thing (I say moth-thing because it was bigger than most butterflies) perched on the wall right outside the place... she put her fingers next to it's legs and it crawled on her hand... I mentioned that sometimes these insect critters die in the hallway outside of the apartments because the place pressure washes and bug-sprays once a month... so she walked the moth-thing to the edge of the stairs and set it on it's way... as it fluttered away, August found another even more different moth-thing and set it free too... she's real good with critters, even better than she says she is in her diary... we headed back to the big outdoor mall and after looking at the movie schedule and deciding to skip a movie because we'd have to wait a couple of hours and then it would have let out too late (August had an early day ahead... I mean, it was the start of her month, after all), so we wandered around Barnes & Noble for hours... that cinched it, someone who loves all sorts of animals, foods, and to wander around a bookstore too... it's so cool to become friends offline with an online friend (who's next?... we really should have a party or convention or something)... of course this is just my view of our day... her version of our adventure might be a bit different if she decides to tell it, but August (the person) and I have movie plans for August (the month), so it's not just a good dream... it's an august dream... we are amused, I hope J and now, all you would-be mouseketeers and theme park troopers, there's two of us DLanders to visit when you come vacation in sunny (and afternoon thnderstormy) Orlando, Florida... you know my number, call ahead of time for reservations... I mean, somebody might already be sleeping on the couches...
