no sleep since the last entry... I headed to work the night before last and then came home t the first morning of power and internet so naturally I had to pop out a quick entry and do some random reading of favorites (and random note leaving, no doubt)... I nodded off a few minutes before my roommies woke me cuz Raspy needed a ride to the airport and when I got back home it was time to spend some time with Precious since it was out first time alone together and some reasurances seemed in order... and then I had what is becoming my usual Thursday evening drum circle group and dinner and then it was back to work again...

the plan was to get sleep this morning...

the plan was...

so the morning came around and there was a meeting at work that dragged on two hours and when it concluded, I hung around to get some papers signed and the phone rang and it was an interview call for the manager from a doctor considering sending some patients to our place and I helped my manager answer questions and she seemed very appreciative... she signed all the papers and requests I asked her to sign without hesitation, good timing... or so it seemed at the time...

I left her office about to say bye to everyone and there was one of my night shift co-workers who was pulling a double shift (his choice) and he was a bit frustrated because people did not show up for work so he could not get out to do something as he had planned to do... so being that I was just given the next six days off, I offered to stay for him for an hour or so... little did I know that the girls were planning a breakout...

about ten minutes before I was set to leave, bang, one of the girls kicks out a window and a few others follow her out and over a fence and into the woods... when I saw they were barefoot, I wasn't too concerned about their actually getting far and being alone on the unit I gathered up the remaining kids, locked doors to secure the unit called an elopement code... people responded, the girls were found and brought back, and everyone was pleased with the efficiency and outcome of the potentially critical situation... but it meant I had a whole lot of paperwork to do, so I sat down to get to it...

the girls had other plans...

one by one they broke down, perhaps triggered by the excitement and then by each other exhibiting their self-destructive or disruptive behaviors and requiring me to stop writing and intervene because the shift was short staffed... which meant more paperwork... it spiraled along for several hours like that until I finally sat with the most critical girls and processed with them, basically holding impromptu group therapy, while doing the paperwork... I finally got out of there clocking in more than 20 hours for Friday after a no sleep Thursday...

and then the other shoe dropped...

I get home to find the power is off again... and with Rasputin gone, I find Precious outside on the phone and we've got to figure out what to do for ice and food and comfort and cleanliness and so on... just what I needed after not sleeping for a couple of days and pushing my brain and body to extremes at work...

so I took her out to dinner, barely coherent (I am told I am amusing when I start babbling and singing in my extended states of sleep deprevation, but sometimes I don't recall precisely what might have happened)... rather than let the loss of power and pending heat/discomfort get us down, I was too tired to think so instinct took over and our favorite Italian restaurant (Micheal's) helped cheer us up... then it was home and I was soon fast asleep in the big green chair because there were still big drying fans and an huge industrial dehumidifier in my bedroom (that had that room up over 110 degrees when the power went off)...

that's all I remember from this day...
